The Band Perry Remember Their First Time

Filed under: Exclusive, Country News, First Time Stories

Neil, Kimberly and Perry Reid, known collectively as the Band Perry, have been on the road for 12 years carving a niche for themselves in country music. The Alabama natives are riding high at the moment with their Top 10 hit 'If I Die Young' and a CMA award nomination for Vocal Group of the Year.

The singing siblings' self-titled album was released in October and they recently joined superstar Alan Jackson as his opening act. The Boot talked to the trio prior to their hitting the stage with Alan for their first-ever arena performance. Naturally, the subject of another recent first came up -- hearing their first single on the radio for the first time.

"The three of us were in the same car," says Kimberly. "We had just actually flown into San Francisco, and it was 'Hip to My Heart.' It was funny because we were in transit to our hotel from the airport, and the radio was turned down low, and all of a sudden we heard the opening hook of the song. We all just sort of got really, really excited, rolled the windows down and cranked it up."
