Filed under: TV ReplayConservative provocateur Ann Coulter has a theory that there is no such thing as a "liberal" Christian, and that left-leaning politicians who claim religion are just atheists who are trying to trick the devout into voting for them.
However, she recently amended that, claiming that Mike Huckabee, a former Republican governor and candidate for president, is in fact a genuine liberal Christian.
Annoyed that Coulter had slapped him with the scarlet "L" Huckabee confronted her on 'Huckabee' (Saturday, 8PM on Fox News), and listed his conservative bona fides.
"Nobody has been more of a proponent of traditional marriage, and of stable marriage, than me," Huckabee claimed. "Nobody has been more adamant about the fact that the government shouldn't be spending money that isn't their's -- and I was against the TARP bill ... I was against stimulus, I was against Obamacare."
"You have many excellent positions," conceded Coulter, but then insisted Huckabee would remain stuck in "liberal" Christian purgatory until he reevaluated his stance that foreign-born children of illegal immigrants should be given a path to citizenship.
