Comcast Accused Of "Putting Up Toll Booth" And "Take It Or Leave It Demands" For Online Movie Transmission By Rivals
This could potentially complicate Comcast's attempt to obtain FCC regulatory approval before the end of the 2010.Level 3 Communications, which delivers Netflix online movies among other products and services, issued this statement today from chief legal officer Thomas Storz:
BROOMFIELD, Colo., November 29, 2010 -- "On November 19, 2010, Comcast informed Level 3 that, for the first time, it will demand a recurring fee from Level 3 to transmit Internet online movies and other content to Comcast?s customers who request such content. By taking this action, Comcast is effectively putting up a toll booth at the borders of its broadband Internet access network, enabling it to unilaterally decide how much to charge for content which competes with its own cable TV and Xfinity delivered content. This action by Comcast threatens the open Internet and is a clear abuse of the dominant control that Comcast exerts in broadband access markets as the nation?s largest cable provider.
?On November 22, after being informed by Comcast that its demand for payment was ?take it or leave it,? Level 3 agreed to the terms, under protest, in order to ensure customers did not experience any disruptions.
?Level 3 operates one of several broadband backbone networks, which are part of the Internet and which independent providers of online content use to transmit movies, sports, games and other entertainment to consumers. When a Comcast customer requests such content, for example an online movie or game, Level 3 transmits the content to Comcast for delivery to consumers.

RATINGS RAT RACE: Football Gives NBC Nightly Win, Spurs Gains For Fox Comedies
Sunday Night Football sealed NBC's 12th consecutive ratings victory on the night. The San Diego Chargers 36-14 blowout of the Indianapolis Colts drew a 13.0 overnight rating/19 share. That was down 18% from last week but up 3% from last fall's Week 12 game, a Steelers-Ravens face-off that was decided in overtime. Meanwhile, with a football runover as a lead-in, Fox's comedy originals spiked with double-digit ratings increases vs. last week. The Simpsons (4.1/10) at 8 PM was up 41%. The Cleveland Show (3.4/8) was up 42% and American Dad (2.9/7) was up 26%. Family Guy (3.0/7) was a rerun. CBS' The Amazing Race (3.1/7) was up 3% from last week when CBS' lineup was pushed back by 12 minutes because of an NFL overrun. The network'sHallmark Hall of Fame movie November Christmas (2.1/5) did respectable business from 9-11 PM, flat with last year?s Hallmark Hall of Fame holiday movie A Dog Named Christmas. ABC's ratings were trending downward throughout the night with an all-rerun lineup: America's Funniest Home Videos (1.9/5), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (1.7/4), Desperate Housewives (1.3/3) and Brothers & Sisters (0.9/2).

D.C. media hope not to be inconvenienced by royal wedding
President Obama cracking wise at the 2010 White House Correspondent's dinner. (Reuters/Jonathan Ernst) We're happy for you Wills and Kate .?.?. but what about our party??? That cry went up in D.C. media circles with word that the royal nuptials will go down on April 29 -- one day before the White House Correspondents' dinner. The potential overlap of guest lists is tiny but significant: The president, who is the main reason anyone wants to buy a pricey ticket to the press gala. (The anchor-level network stars, likely to be deployed to London, are also part of the evening's glitz quotient.) But after an emergency conference call Wednesday, the WHCA decided to stick with the date they've plunked down their big deposits for. "It's an inconvenience, but not a direct conflict," board member Julie Mason told us. And the best bets are that Obama won't feel compelled to skip
Nicki Minaj Uncovers Onika Miraj, Embraces Fame In 'My Time Now'
Young Money raptress records Pink Friday, sheds her alter egos as she opens up about music industry and Trinidad roots in MTV News documentary.By Mawuse Ziegbe

Whether you don't get her or can't get enough, it's hard to deny that it's Nicki Minaj's time to shine. And Sunday night (November 28), days after the release of her major-label debut, Pink Friday, Minaj showed viewers of her MTV News documentary, "My Time Now," what life is really like in the spotlight.
Produced by much of the same team behind Minaj's Young Money labelmate Drake's June documentary, "Better Than Good Enough," the film follows the bewigged mic-ripper as she crafts her hotly anticipated album, which dropped on Monday. The curtains are pulled back on the "Right Thru Me" lyricist's hectic lifestyle as she closes in on the November 22 drop date, giving fans a rare glimpse of the Trinidadian-born, Queens MC born Onika Miraj as she grapples with her past and faces her promising future.
Journalists from magazines such as Spin and Rolling Stone comment on the perfect storm of hype that has accompanied the Young Money femcee's debut — Team Minaj's major presence on and off the Web, the impressive list of high-profile features — maintaining that the Queens spitter needs to churn out a pretty much flop-proof album, a task that Minaj readily rises to. With her favorite dried cranberries and almonds on standby — Minaj insists on snacking on the trail-mix ingredients while recording — viewers got an intimate look at the wordsmith in the studio as she crafted Pink Friday.
Fueling the Minaj mania are her turns on the awards-show stage, including her notable appearances at the 2010 BET Awards, which sparked debate over whether the Young Money diva was lip-synching. The chatter frustrates Minaj but ultimately the drama motivates her to really turn it out at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show, where she helmed her first solo televised performance alongside will.i.am.
"I've been led down a lot of dead-end roads," Minaj says candidly about her winding journey to hip-hop stardom, recounting pre-fame gigs as a waitress, customer-service rep and office manager. However, the "Your Love" MC didn't let the roadblocks shut down her dream, and her ferocity is evident in a scene where Minaj lays down the vocals for the Eminem collabo "Roman's Revenge."
"Roman is a crazy boy who lives in me and he says the things that I don't want to say. He was born just a few months ago. I think he was born out of rage," she explains of her disorderly alter ego Roman Zolanski, who fittingly trades bars with Em's belligerent Slim Shady persona on "Revenge." "He was conceived in rage so he bashes everyone and he threatens to beat people and he's violent."
Minaj also breaks down her writing process in the scene, explaining that whatever persona she invokes — whether it's the unchecked fury of Zolanski, the saccharine cheekiness of "Barbie" or the throaty, theatrical wails of Zolanski's mother — the words come to the MC organically.
"When I write a rap, like, my brain doesn't compute, 'Now write rap.' It doesn't. You just have to let it happen and just don't second-guess yourself too much and then it gets done," she says. "To me, music is spiritual, so it moves you in a weird way that you cannot teach in school. I'll hear a beat and words just start coming to me."
The "Check It Out" spitter also sounds off about the business behind the music. In one scene, Minaj rattles off a powerful invective about what she sees as unfair double standards for women in entertainment.
"When I am assertive, I'm a bitch. When a man is assertive, he's a boss. He bossed up. No negative connotation behind bossed up. But lots of negative connotation behind being a bitch," Minaj remarks, while going off about sub-par photo shoot amenities and getting visibly frustrated about an unnamed person who refuses to return a favor to Minaj. "Donald Trump can say you're fired. Let Martha Stewart run her company the same way and be the same way. [People will say], 'F---ing old evil bitch!' But Donald Trump, he gets to hang out with young bitches and have 50 different wives and just be cool. 'Oh, Donald, we love you, Donald Trump!' "
The assertive, no-nonsense Nicki is a side of the hip-hop star fans who've been following her since her "Come Up" DVD and Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape days are familiar with. But in "My Time Now," the Barbie army gets to check out the lyricist's more vulnerable side as she journeys to Trinidad for the first time in seven years for a concert. Minaj greets family members she hasn't seen in years without all of the fussy trappings of a global celebrity, sporting dark, straight locks and a T-shirt. Minaj squeals, enveloping excited relatives in warm embraces and catches up with her kin as they all pile up onto a couch in a swanky hotel. Later, she picks up the tab for a family shopping spree as rabid fans descend upon the mall for a shot of the hip-hop Barbie.
Raised by her grandmother while her parents laid the groundwork for a better life in the U.S., Minaj gets emotional in one scene as she remembers her late elder, who died before the young Nicki scored success. She faintly nods and struggles to hold back tears as she concedes her grandmother would be proud of her achievements, before quickly picking up a mirror to salvage her makeup.
"A lot of times, when you're from the islands, your parents leave and then send for you because it's easier when they have established themselves; when they have a place to stay, when they have a job. I thought it was gonna be for a few days, it turned into two years without my mother," she says of staying behind with relatives on the island nation.
She also speaks about her father's debilitating drug addiction, which rocked the youngster's Queens household.
"When you're on crack, you can't keep a job. And when you can't keep a job, you don't have money. And when you don't have money, you steal. And you steal from your family," she says.
Ultimately, Minaj's story ends on a note of triumph, as she cruises through a Long Island neighborhood in a chauffeured Maybach and tours the home she just purchased for her mother and younger brother, who she playfully ribs as they discuss paint colors, just like any other big sister.
"I am amazed at what I've seen in this film," Minaj said in a statement. She continued, "This film is my heart & soul. The visual component to Pink Friday. My fans are the most incredible humans on this planet. Words could never translate my gratitude. Thank you for standing by me. It's our time now."

'I just wanted to say there's nothing cool about being a bully,' singer says.By Gil Kaufman

Justin Bieber has joined the ranks of stars speaking out against bullying. The 16-year-old American Music Award-winning singer recently spoke to talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres about his own bullying experience, and in an "It Gets Better" clip that debuted on DeGeneres'
site on Monday, he urged his fans to take action if they see someone being bullied.
In the 20-second video, Bieber, wearing a black T-shirt and backward black baseball cap, says, "Hey guys, I'm Justin Bieber. I just wanted to say there's nothing cool about being a bully. And if you're getting bullied, make sure to tell someone and, you know, it gets better. And if you're a bystander, make sure to step in and, you know, help out."
The clip appeared to have been filmed during Bieber's appearance on DeGeneres' show earlier this month, when he discussed his own experiences with bullying.
"Everybody goes through bullying," he said on the show. "Everybody has, even me. On my YouTube page, there are so many haters. They just say crazy stuff. Like, I'm not mad, I'm 16 and I don't have chest hair. I'm not angry about it at the moment. That will come. People are like, 'Look at him, he puts helium in his voice before he sings.' You just have to laugh at yourself. It's funny." His appearance on the show came shortly after he was reportedly bullied while playing laser tag in Canada in October.
Bieber also had a similar message for those who see bullying going on around them. "There are so many bullies. It goes on so much," he told DeGeneres. "I think that you should ... especially if you are a bystander, you definitely should help out because it could be you next."
In the laser-tag incident last month, a 12-year-old boy allegedly used an anti-gay slur against Bieber after overzealously targeting the "Baby" singer during a heated match.
Bieber joins a long list of stars and politicians who have joined the "It Gets Better" anti-bullying campaign, including President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Adam Lambert, Aubrey O'Day, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and Katy Perry, who dedicated her "Firework" clip to the campaign.

James Otto Celebrates a 'Late Night' Thanksgiving
Filed under: Exclusive, Country News
While most folks are spending Thanksgiving in their homes surrounded by family and food, James Otto is in the Big Apple gearing up for his first appearance on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.' The Thanksgiving night show is a special occasion for the award winning singer/songwriter in more ways than one as he'll be dueting with one of his musical heroes.
"Ronnie Milsap is one of my favorite artists of all time. I call him the Godfather of Country Soul," James tells The Boot in an exclusive interview at the Starbucks in Rockefeller Plaza, adjacent to the world famous Christmas tree and ice skating rink. "He mixed classic R&B with country music and to great effect. He had 40 No. 1 hits and sold millions of records. You can't beat that."
James and Ronnie will be performing 'Good Thing's Gone Bad,' their duet on James' current album 'Shake What God Gave Ya.' They will be joined by The Roots, who perform nightly on Fallon. "I wrote that song years and years ago and had done it with the [Muzik] Mafia. In the middle of the song, when we'd play it with the Mafia, I'd break into 'Stranger in My House,' because it fits perfectly," James says, referencing Ronnie's classic '80s hit. "We decided when it came time to cut the album to reach out to Ronnie and see what he thought of the song. He loved the song and decided he wanted to do it. Once it was on the record, everybody started hearing it. It's been a favorite in my live shows for years, but this version of it is the best version we've ever had."

Meeting of the minds, St. Petersburg (Ria Novosti/Reuters) "Here, in Russia, we call such a person a 'real man.' " -- Vladimir Putin heralding Leonardo DiCaprio as a nastoyachshi muzhik for daring to fly on to the Tiger Summit in St. Petersburg this week after his first flight got turned back to NYC when an engine blew out and his second, on a private jet, had to land in Finland because of heavy winds. The actor contributed $1 million to the cause of saving the big cats.

Taylor Swift Bashed -- Once Again -- by Kanye West
Filed under: Country News
Taylor Swift may have moved on -- way on -- from last year's debacle at the MTV Video Music Awards when Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video, but Kanye is apparently still stewing over the incident and resultant backlash against him. He used a pre-Thanksgiving concert to bash Taylor, who is now riding high with the release of the instantly platinum-selling 'Speak Now.'
The latest rant happened on Tuesday, November 23, at New York City's Bowery Ballroom when Kanye performed the entire track list of his new album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,' according to the Los Angeles Times.
"Taylor never came to my defense in any interview ... and rode it and rode it," he told the crowd that included several celebrities including Diddy, Q-Tip, John Legend and Spike Lee. "If I wasn't drunk, I woulda been on stage [when I interrupted Taylor] longer."

Panel: Deny NYC Mayor's Choice For Schools (Yahoo! / AP)
An advisory panel appointed to weigh the qualifications of Hearst Magazines chairwoman Cathie Black to head New York City schools recommended Tuesday denying a waiver that would allow the noneducator to serve as chancellor of the country's largest school system. State education commissioner David Steiner is not required to follow the panel's advice in deciding whether to grant the waiver, nor is he required to consider public opinion.
The Financial Times Has Become Hostile To Bloggers (Talking Biz News)
Reuters blogger Felix Salmon doesn't like the new warning that appears when someone copies text from a Financial Times article to use on a blog or other online venue. Salmon writes, "Hilariously, even the FT's own journalists are falling foul of this idiocy: On Thursday, in his Markets Live conversation, Neil Hume wound up pasting text onto the FT's Web site saying that he was infringing the FT's copyright. 'Sorry,' he then added. 'Damn disclaimer.'"

The new Bowlmor Times Square opened yesterday in the old New York Times building on West 44th Street. You'll recall that the paper of record sold the building in 2007 and moved to its flashy new headquarters in a 52-story skyscraper, which the company had to then mortgage off to cover spiraling debt.

'Hell's Kitchen' Season 8: Ramsay's Out, Paris Hilton is In
After this many weeks of cooking nearly the exact same food every week in Hell's Kitchen, you'd figure these chefs would have it down to a science. More like weird science. Trev can't grill a steak, Jillian can't brown a scallop and Nona can't cook spaghetti. Of course, if everything went right, they wouldn't have much of an episode would they? And shouldn't they have taken turns running the pass by now? No wonder Ramsay walked out of his own kitchen.

Soul Train Awards Hosts Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson Talk Legacy

Decades after the groovy soul-music showcase "Soul Train" arrived on television sets across the nation, the 2010 Soul Train Awards are keeping the phenomenon's legacy on track by spotlighting a new generation of R&B voices.
This year's show will air Sunday, November 28, on BET and Centric, and MTV News hit the red carpet before the taping of the event to check in with some of the most respected songsmiths around today about "Soul Train" 's cultural impact.
"This is the platform for urban music and to be here today, for it to have so much longevity, this is it," "Sexy Can I" crooner Ray J said. "This is passion, this is love, this is music right here."
"The Soul Train Awards is history, man," hitmaking songwriter Sean Garrett added.
Rising R&B face Melanie Fiona agreed, acknowledging the longstanding influence of the iconic production.
"Soul Train Awards are great," she smiled. "They come with a lot of history. They come with a lot of celebration of great music. It's a great event and beautiful people, beautiful night."
For host Taraji P. Henson, the original television broadcast reminds the Hollywood veteran of "good times," and was a cultural touchstone for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" actress.
"I just remember learning how to dress and how to dance and wear my hair from 'Soul Train,' " Henson recalled fondly. "That's where I got all my fashion tips."
An array of inventive soul stars will hit the stage at this year's event, including Bruno Mars, Cee Lo, Chrisette Michele, R. Kelly, Keyshia Cole, Ne-Yo and Erykah Badu. R&B luminaries Anita Baker and Ron Isley will be honored as Soul Train Awards Legends.
Detroit soul star Dwele chatted about the enduring legacy of the enterprise, which remained on the air for 37 years and began dishing out coveted hardware in a separate awards show in the '80s.
" 'Soul Train,' period, is music. It's our music from back in the day and it's still relevant currently, and that's a beautiful thing," he said.
Co-host Terrence Howard, who returned with Henson to helm the event once again, maintained that the "Soul Train" phenomenon transcends music and reflects the game-changing strides made by African-Americans over the last few decades.
"It reminds me of the advancement that black people have made over the years 'cause 'Soul Train' really was the beginning of that Black Power movement when we actually could see ourselves. And to have an awards show based upon that 'Soul Train,' it's headed somewhere."

Taye Diggs Remembers Making Poop Song On 'When I Was 17'
'Private Practice' star recalls creating impromptu joint about feces on episode premiering Saturday at 11 a.m.By Mawuse Ziegbe
Taye Diggs
Photo: MTV News
Taye Diggs has built a reputation as a Hollywood heartthrob, lighting up the screen in everything from "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" to "Brown Sugar." But when the actor was 17, he was less of a hunk and more of a ham, constantly cutting up with his friends.
"When I was 17, we were all performers. Wherever we were, we would always try to put on some kind of a show," he remembers on the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which also features Naya Rivera from "Glee" and NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony, premiering Saturday at 11 a.m.
"They were always, always making up songs and singing them and joking around," Diggs' brother Gabriel recalls.
One time, Diggs and his pals turned someone else's crappy luck into a catchy tune.
"I remember one time there was a fire drill, and me and my boy Shane saw this dude step in some dog doo," he says. "We laugh ... and then, right then, somebody drops a beat."
Shane recreates the beat, flapping and pursing his lips, before continuing the story: "Then [Diggs] joined in, "corn feces!"
"And then it just breaks into a whole song," Diggs recalls of the ditty's inexplicable development.
Then Shane breaks down the joint's loopy lyrics for viewers: "I was walking down the street, rocking to the beat/ Clapping my hands and stomping my feet/ Look at the ground and what do I see?/ Corn feces staring right at me. Corn feces!"
For Diggs, who was 17 in 1988, the impromptu, poop-inspired ode is still hilarious years later.
"Corn feces!" the star proclaims, clapping his hands and cracking up.

'King's Speech' Star Colin Firth Talks Awards-Season Love And 'Dumb Luck'
2010 best actor nominee looks poised for another Oscar nod.By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Colin Firth in "The King's Speech"
Photo: The Weinstein Company
For the second year in a row, Colin Firth finds himself at the center of awards-season chatter. And after losing out on a best actor Oscar for "A Single Man," the 50-year-old actor has again established himself as one of the frontrunners in that category, thanks to his turn as the stammer-afflicted King George VI on the verge of Britain's entry into World War II in "The King's Speech."
It seems Firth is an actor at the top of his game, but to hear him tell it, it's as much a matter of good fortune as it is great talent.
"It's just dumb luck," he told MTV News at the Toronto film festival in September. "That's all: Just getting a crack at it. Sometimes you just take roles to stay in the game or pay bills and hope the good ones are going to come along.
"I was never in a world of perfect choice, and now I feel like I've had a couple of real plums landing in my hand," he added.
It was at fall film festivals in Toronto and Telluride, Colorado, as critics first began to catch screenings of "King's Speech," that it became clear we'd still be talking about Firth's performance come awards season. He's been faithfully making the publicity rounds ever since, and as he told us when we chatted earlier this month in New York, he's not bored with the experience.
"Funnily enough, I find it easier than many things," he said. "There are so many angles you can approach it from, to do with the way people are reacting to it to the surprises we've had along the way to nuances about the actual history itself. I think this has a lot of mileage in it.
"It's been very gratifying for audiences to have howls of laughter and be open to crying," he continued. "To see that happening in the same film is a triumphant feeling. When you're in Telluride, you can put it down to altitude — one glass of wine amounts to 10. So we had to test it at sea level as well to see if people enjoyed it, and they did."

Keith Urban Is Ready for Some Football
Filed under: Country News, Movies and TV
Keith Urban is rested and ready after a few days off at home in Nashville, following a nonstop promotional tour for his new album, 'Get Closer.' He'll spend the holiday in Dallas, Texas, where he'll make a Thanksgiving Day half-time performance at the Cowboys' game versus the New Orleans Saints. His set, which will air live on FOX-TV, will also serve as the kick-off to the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.
While in Dallas, cameras will roll on the superstar for a special NFL documentary, 'Keith Urban: Half-time in Real Time,' catching Keith in action from his arrival in the city to the moment he leaves to go back home. The show, which will also give a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on the super half-time show, is set to air on the NFL Network Saturday, November 27 at 10:30 PM ET.
Keith discovered his love for the game (and, especially, the Tennessee Titans) when he began dating his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. "She's a passionate, giant supporter," explains the entertainer. "She's a big NFL fan, and she sort of turned me on to it. Since I'm from Australia, it was all sort of new to me."

Rihanna Bested By Susan Boyle, Jackie Evancho On Billboard 200
Two "Talent" show singers top the charts, while Rihanna's Loud debuts at #3.By Gil Kaufman

Though it's an American holiday, Thanksgiving must be turning into Susan Boyle's favorite. After setting records last week with her second album, The Gift, former "Britain's Got Talent" runner-up Boyle will retain the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart next week thanks to sales of another 335,000 copies, and despite challenges from nine new competitors, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.
Last week, Boyle became the first woman, and only other artist besides the Beatles and the Monkees, to land two straight #1 albums within a calendar year in both England and the U.S. She retains the crown as another reality singer from a Simon Cowell-produced show, 10-year-old "America's Got Talent" runner-up Jackie Evancho, comes in just behind with her debut EP, O Holy Night (#2, 239,000).
That means Rihanna has to settle for a #3 debut for her fifth album, Loud, which sold 207,000 copies. It marked her best U.S. chart sales debut to date, besting the #4 bow of last year's Rated R, which came in with sales of 181,000. She leads a parade of new names in the top 10 which also includes Josh Groban's Rick Rubin-produced Illuminations (#4, 191,000), Kid Rock's Rubin-produced Born Free (#5, 189,000), Rascal Flatts' Nothing Like This (#6, 165,000), Keith Urban's Get Closer (#7, 162,000), the "Glee" Christmas album (#8, 161,000) and Nelly's 5.0 (#10, 63,000).
The only other hold-over from last week's top 10 is Taylor Swift, whose Speak Now figures dropped by more than 30 percent to 146,000 as her first month of sales crossed the 1.7 million mark. Pink's greatest-hits collection, Greatest Hits So Far!, comes in at #14 (53,000), just beating out the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's Darkness on the Edge of Town outtakes collection The Promise (#16, 47,000).
Season nine "American Idol" winner Lee DeWyze set a new record for "Idol" champs, just not the kind he probably wanted. His first major-label effort, Live It Up, is officially the poorest-selling debut from an "Idol" champ in history, notching a lowly #19 chart bow on anemic sales of 39,000. The title was previously held by season-eight winner Kris Allen, whose debut hit the charts in 2009 at #11 on sales of 80,000.
It was a very rough second week for Kid Cudi, whose Man on the Moon 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager plummets nearly 80 percent to #21 on sales of 34,000, while Eminem's Recovery drops 12 spots to #23 while holding steady on sales at 34,000 and crossing the 3 million mark. It was also a big comedown for Cee Lo, as his solo album The Lady Killer nosedives 30 spots to #39 after sales shriveled by 40 percent to 25,000.
Despite selling 2 million digital tracks and 450,000 digital albums in their iTunes coming-out party, the Beatles have only one album in the top 50, with Abbey Road slipping in at #50 (19,000). Thirteen other digital albums chart in the lower regions of the top 200.
The Fab Four are having better luck on the iTunes album chart, where Abbey Road comes in at #6 and a special box set closes out the tally at #10. But it is all Rihanna on that chart, as Loud holds the #1 slot, followed by the "Glee" Christmas album, Rascal Flatts, A Day to Remember's What Separates Me From You, Urban, Swift, Groban and Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
iTunes doesn't release sales figures, but "Glee" rules the singles countdown thanks to guest Gwyneth Paltrow's cover of Cee Lo's "Forget You," followed by Ke$ha's "We R Who We R," Cee Lo's own sanitized version of his profane hit single, Katy Perry's "Firework," Pink's "Raise Your Glass" and the "Glee" cast's recording of "Singing in the Rain/Umbrella." The rest of the singles chart includes #7 song "What's My Name?" by Rihanna and Drake, the Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)," Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)" and Far East Movement's "Like a G6."
Things will get shuffled all over again next week with chart debuts from Kanye, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, My Chemical Romance, Ne-Yo, Jay-Z, Akon, Alan Jackson, Ke$ha and the "Burlesque" soundtrack.

Will Megyn Kelly GQ photos cause as much fuss as Diane Sawyer's Vanity Fair cover?
Megyn Kelly in the December 2010 issue of GQ (Alexei Hays/GQ); the infamous Diane Sawyer cover of Vanity Fair, September 1987 The newswoman posed in a fetching black dress, shoulders bared, glancing flirtatiously from behind a tousle of blonde hair. And everyone went berserk."Pure cheesecake," said the New York Daily News. "Steamy," declared the Oregonian. And from many quarters, concern she was undercutting her credibility. "However pleasing she may be to the eye," declared a Washington Post colleague, "why does a respected professional surrender to the urging that she pose for come-hither photographs?"Megyn Kelly in the new GQ? Heck, no. Who knows what they'll be saying in coming days about the Fox News anchor's astonishing photo shoot? The uproar described above was set off in September 1987, when Diane Sawyer posed for a Vanity Fair cover that now seems demure, even dignified, with the hindsight of 23 years. History

NEW YORK — Hundreds of fans ... correction, Barbies and Kens, lined up for hours outside of Best Buy in New York City's Union Square Tuesday night for a chance to meet their Mama Barb, Nicki Minaj. Nicki has found herself in the rap and pop spotlight thanks to her unique style, over-the-top personality and anticipation for her first album, Pink Friday, out Friday. This was an opportunity not only for her to thank fans for their support, but also for them to thank her for giving them a voice.
"She speaks for people. She speaks for us. She's our generation," said one fan queued up outside. "Every era has their people. We have Nicki, that's our person. We relate to her. We connect to her."
Nicki's Barbies and Ken Barbs — as she's dubbed many of her male fans — were rapping their favorite Nicki verses in unison and chanting the Harajuku Barbie's name as well as the name of her debut album, Pink Friday, all night at the event.
"It's her style, it's her flow," said 19-year-old Jean Carlos. "Some people won't get it, but the people out here supporting her, all of these people that have been here since who knows what time, those are people that get her. Those are her real fans and that's why we're here, because we love her."
Most fans knew that they would only get three seconds to let Nicki know how much they loved her, but that fact did little to dissuade them. Admirer Anthony Dominguez said that when he got a chance to meet her, he would congratulate her on her success and tell her how much he appreciated her.
"I'm going to tell her 'I love you so much, keep up the good work,' and 'I love you Mama Barb.' "
Minaj also spent part of Tuesday performing at Kanye West's show at the Bowery Ballroom in downtown New York.
Open the floodgates! It's Mega-Release Week, with Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and Lloyd Banks all dropping new albums. Stick with MTV News for everything you need to know about the brand-new music.

What We're Thankful for: TV Squad Staff Picks
Filed under: Features, Holiday TV
As Thanksgiving approaches, we're all reminded to take a step back and appreciate the things in our lives we're most grateful for. We're also reminded of how someone should really stop Aunt Maude from pouring that third glass of chardonnay -- but mostly we're reminded of the good stuff.
In the spirit of the holiday, the TV Squad staff has plenty of television-related thanks to give this year. Bristol Palin's 'Dancing with the Stars' Season in Review
We're down to the final show and the final 3 competitors in season 11 of Dancing with the Stars! Regardless of who wins, the final three have had a long road to get here. We now take a look back at Bristol Palin's season on DWTS.
'House' Fan Columnist: True Lies
This week's House covers familiar territory, but in the best way possible. We've seen House renounce faith many times in episodes like "Damned if You Do," "House vs. God" and "Unfaithful," (which was also written by Hoselton) but this time things are different. All those episodes were written when House was unhappy. This season, House is actually in a good mood. Could House's new lease on life change his stubborn principles? This week we get a window into how his perspective on faith and truth have been shaped by his current relationship. As an added bonus, we get two other relationships to compare and contrast in this season's strongest episode, "Small Sacrifices." POTWThis week's patient made a bargain with God three years ago to save his daughter for the bargain price of annual crucifixions. House, of course, is chomping at the bit in attempts to bring his faithful patient over to the dark side. House's mission in life seems to be converting those that believe things he considers to be idiotic and disprovable. He can't fathom that anyone would believe in something so purely and unselfishly. When House attempts to disprove what the patient sees as fact, that God does exist, House gets what he always gets: another manipulation fitting of the patient's beliefs. We've seen it in "Damned if You Do," "Here, Kitty" and even in "Love Hurts." Remember when Cameron and House went on their date and she told him if he treated her like garbage it meant he loved her, and if he was nice to her, it meant he was getting in touch with his feelings? Same thing. God is either extremely merciful in his existence, or something terrible will happen and it is God's way of punishing you for not living for him. Either way, the patient is never won over.

There'll Be No 'Dirty Dancing' Lift for Jennifer Grey in the 'DWTS' Finals
Filed under: Dancing With The Stars, TV NewsThe long wait to see who'll be crowned 'DWTS' is nearly at an end. But don't hold your breath waiting for finalist Jennifer Grey to recreate her famous 'Dirty Dancing' lift sequence.
The "air lift" move she performed with co-star Patrick Swayze has become one of the most iconic scenes in 'Dirty Dancing,' and fans have been on the edge of their seats hoping that Grey and partner Derek Hough would pull it out of the bag in the finals.
However, in an interview with People, Grey said "I won't be doing the lift in the finals ... Everyone should not expect that."
Even if she did consider it briefly, doctors told her that doing it could seriously injure her neck and back. Grey underwent the first of three neck surgeries only a year ago, and has been plagued by injuries all season. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

This just in...: Leonardo DiCaprio unhurt in plane mishap, Gawker takes down Sarah Palin excerpts
Leo -- whew! -- still alive. (Shizuo Kambayashi/AP) Tragedy averted! Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the passengers onboard the Moscow-bound plane that had to return to NYC's JFK airport Sunday for an emergency landing, his rep told reporters Monday. (Also: 200 other people. No one hurt.) The actor was on his way to an endangered species conference in St. Petersburg. Gawker.com removed images it posted of full pages from Sarah Palin's new book before its official release, after an order from a federal judge this weekend. Palin's publisher HarperCollins had filed a copyright infringement suit against the gossip site, seeking unspecified damages.
Kim Zolciak's Bun in the Oven: Google It (Or Don't)
By now there's little need to "Google Me" (her), Kim Zolciak is all over the internet with her latest news: she's pregnant! Despite denying the pregnancy rumors on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen just hours before, Kim Zolciak took to her Twitter to announce that she and Atlanta Falcons defensive end Kroy Bierman are expecting their first child together. Of course it's their first, they have only been dating for 6 months, having met at Sheree's "Dancing Stars of Atlanta" event. That's right, we were there! (sort of)Now Kim's going to have another child for Brielle, 13, to be jealous of in addition to Ariana, 9. All this after that re-decorating incident! Kim tells Life & Style, "I was surprised! While it wasn't planned, God clearly has a bigger and better plan for us and we're excited." Zolciak and Bierman don't plan to marry while she's pregnant but she can see herself "marrying Kroy in the future." [TVGuide.com]
Ke$ha's Cannibal: A Cheat Sheet
Singer has already scored a hit with new single 'We R Who We R.'By Gil Kaufman
Ke$ha
Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ Getty Images
It's been a pretty phenomenal year for Ke$ha. The brash, glitter-loving club kid burst onto the scene in January with her debut album, Animal, hot on the heels of the smash debut single "Tik Tok."
In short order, she ended the chart run of Susan Boyle when Animal debuted at #1, made her first trip to the Grammy Awards, teamed up with pals 3OH!3 for another hit video with "Blah Blah Blah," dropped in on "American Idol" and hit the road with Rihanna. And that's just the first three months of the year!
But after scoring another hit with "Your Love Is My Drug" and flipping the bird to haters over their critiques of her wobbly debut on "Saturday Night Live," Ke$ha unleashed another single, "Take It Off."
For a minute, there was talk of a follow-up album that might have a country twang, not out of the question considering that she's a Nashville native and her mom penned songs for Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. But as she said at the time, "I'm also really digging being called, like, half-jokingly, a white-girl rapper. I think it's really funny, and I'm going to ride that train for a little bit."
By August, she was already plotting her next move, telling MTV News, "I'm always writing and kind of thinking of the next step. I'm still executing this record properly onstage, but the next record is definitely on my mind, and potentially in the works soon." She described waking up in Tokyo at 4 in the morning with a brainstorm for a new song and then spending seven hours making a "horrible" beat on "Garage Band" and singing and rapping into her computer.
A short time later, it was announced that her nine-song follow-up, Cannibal, would hit stores November 22 as a "companion" album to a reissue of Animal. The disc was reported to contain eight new songs produced by heavy-hitters like Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Bangladesh and to be preceded by "We R Who We R."
"This year has been carnivorous and life-changing. I have my rowdy, gorgeous fans to thank for taking me on the ride of a lifetime," Ke$ha said in a statement. "My only goal with this record is to keep them dancing. The songs on Cannibal were made to inspire people to ignore any hate or judgment and be themselves unapologetically. It's the perfect companion to Animal and I hope you guys like it. And if you don't like it — bite me."
Though a rumored hookup with Drake was false, a confirmed track list proved to have plenty of profane and silly titles, including (ahem) "C U Next Tuesday," "Sleazy," "Blow," "The Harold Song," "Cannibal," "We R," "Crazy Beautiful Life" and "Grow a Pear," plus a remix of "Animal." After winning an MTV EMA for Best New Act, the singer also locked in her first headlining affair, the Get $leazy Tour, which is slated to kick off February 15 in Portland, Oregon.
Like most major new albums, Cannibal leaked online a week before it hit shelves, perhaps the finest proof yet that Ke$ha has truly hit the big time. Only this time, after most of the songs had hit the Web, Ke$ha just posted the damn thing herself on her website and told her fans to enjoy.
"This is my album premiere, and it's top secret, and it's really fun and it's wild," Ke$ha said in a message posted on her site. "Things are going to get crazy and a little awkward, it'll be okay. Listen to it."
She's going to have plenty of major competition on the charts this week with new releases from Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and My Chemical Romance, but something tells us Ke$ha isn't that worried.

Keith Urban Headed Down Under With Oprah
Filed under: Exclusive, Country News, Movies and TV
When Oprah Winfrey takes her show to Australia next month, she'll be taking along one of the country's most famous exports. It's none other than Keith Urban, who has confirmed his appearance on what is one of the most anticipated shows of the season.
In September at the ACM Honors in Nashville, Keith was asked about the possibility of being on Oprah's Australian shows, and he thought it would be a terrific idea. "It's beautiful, and it's a great time of year to be down there," Keith told The Boot. "Go Oprah. Everybody's gonna have a great time. And hopefully, we may end up down there. That would be great if we could."
Keith will tape his 'Oprah' episode on December 14 at the Sydney Opera House. Other Aussies likely to appear on one of the three shows Down Under include Hugh Jackman, Cate Blanchett and Naomi Watts, and rumor has it Keith's wife, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, will also appear.

Kid Rock Gets Mellow At The American Music Awards
A sedate Rock performed 'Times Like These,' a tribute to his native Detroit.By Gil Kaufman

Kid Rock has made a career of taking the road less traveled. From the scrawny bedroom beatmaker who rose from regional prominence to worldwide fame thanks to sheer will to the rapper who has slowly steered himself back to the classic rock sounds that first inspired his love of music, Rock does it his way, all the way.
If you've followed him along that twisted path, then his sedate performance on Sunday night's (November 21) American Music Awards made perfect sense. With tranquil images of nature behind him, the outrageous American Badass took it down a notch, or twenty, sitting on a stool center-stage flanked by an acoustic guitar player and male backup singer. Crooning "Times Like These," an homage to his beloved Detroit, he sang, "Even though it's bittersweet and brings us to our knees, it makes us who we are in times like these."
Dressed all in black, including his signature lid, Rock recast himself as a modern folk troubadour, trading turntables for sweet, soulful harmonies and flashy, fur-dripping outfits for earnest balladry and a no-frills stage set-up that put images of D-Town front and center.
"A new day dawns as the good Lord shines from above/ 'Cause in the rubble and rust there remains a home I will love," Rock offered in his sugar-and-sandpaper finest. All the while, images of his struggling hometown flashed behind him and he pledged to still be there when things turn around.
The performance was a fitting preview to Rock's just released eight studio album, Born Free, his hardest turn yet into straight-up rock and roll after a career of mixing guitars and beats.
When Rock discussed the song with MTV News back in September, he noted that despite its patriotic spirit, the title track, "Born Free," isn't necessarily just a pro-American anthem. "I think that song already has kinda gotten a little misconstrued that it's just this big, patriotic American song, which it is in its own right, but it first came to mind to write something like this when I was on one of my trips to Afghanistan, Iraq, playing for our soldiers," Rock said. "I started to just think about no matter where somebody was born in this world, how lucky you are just by the grace of God to be born free."
Even if Rock warns everyone not to get the message of the title track twisted, the new album, a hard-rocking, hip-hop-free thing (aside from a cameo by T.I.) features collaborations with Rock's hometown Detroit hero, Bob Seger, old pal Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown, Trace Adkins and Martina McBride and a studio band that includes Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Los Lobos guitarist David Hidalgo and Benmont Tench, the keyboardist from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers.

Kenny Chesney to Give Away 10,000 'Boys of Fall' DVDs
Filed under: Country News, Movies and TV
Kenny Chesney has offered up 10,000 copies of his 'Boys of Fall' football documentary DVD to high schools and their football coaches, in an effort to inspire young athletes both on and off the field.
During his year off the road, the entertainer interviewed several of football's most successful coaches, players and commentators, including Joe Namath, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, John Madden and Sean Payton, about the life lessons learned by those who participate in football programs. Of the experience, Kenny said he learned a lot from all of the people he interviewed.
"I got something from every one of them," explains Kenny. "It was probably one of the best journeys of my life being able to go around this year and interview all these people, all these men that have shaped lives on and off the field for a long time. I've been so busy the last couple of years. I've been giving to one thing and doing all this stuff, it's been great, but that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for you to sit and actually reflect about what you want in your own life and about what you want in it and about where you are in it."

Oprah's 'Favorite Things' Audience Goes Wild After She Gives Everyone a 7-Day Cruise (VIDEO)
Filed under: TV ReplayOprah Winfrey keeps outdoing herself this season with guests, stunts and giveaways (it is, after all, her last syndicated show after 25 years). On Friday's episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Winfrey introduced part one of her Farewell Favorite Things.
Near the end of the show, a staff member wheeled out a gigantic jack-in-the-box which he proceeded to crank, revealing a giant inflatable cruise ship. As the audience went wild (and we mean wild!), Winfrey told them that everyone was getting a flight on United Airlines and a week-long cruise on the Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship in the world.
"We had a couple of paramedics on standby because this audience -- I've seen a lot over the years -- but I've never seen people act like that," she said about the taping, according to Radar Online. And we agree -- this audience was just completely out of control. Wouldn't you? Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Miranda Lambert 'Panicked' About New Album
Filed under: Country News
Miranda Lambert is having the kind of year most artists only dream of. Back-to-back chart-topping hits, a record-breaking nine CMA nominations, three CMA wins, platinum sales... the list goes on and on, thanks mostly to her acclaimed 'Revolution' album. The Texas-bred songbird says the project's success also has a downside; it has spawned a whole new level of anxiety.
"I'll probably be panicked the night before my new record comes out because I love 'Revolution' still, and I can't even imagine starting on a new record," Miranda tells Nashville's Tennessean newspaper. "But I know I've got to, and I know that I don't need to compare myself to myself. I've just got to keep doing what I do and moving forward. But, yes, I'm so freakin' nervous."
The happily-engaged singer (to fellow country superstar Blake Shelton) has already begun the daunting task of gathering songs for her next CD. What makes the process easier, she says, are her tourmates, Josh Kelley and Eric Church, who are helping her churn out some new tunes.
