Can 'The Paul Reiser Show' Bring the Funny Better Than 'Perfect Couples'?

More programming news from NBC: Not long ago we learned that the network was developing The Paul Reiser Show with the former Mad About You star, but the series had no premiere date, and we wondered if it would ever see the light of primetime. Now we know when we will finally get to see the show that has been described as a "Curb Your Enthusiasm-lite": April 14 at 8:30pm, between Community and The Office.NBC is pulling Perfect Couples to make way for Reiser. And with flailing ratings, lukewarm reviews and two episodes left in the can, the diagnosis looks like cancellation for the young ensemble series about those crazy, ironically titled couples.I can't say I was laying awake at night wondering where Paul Reiser was and why he was depriving us of his neurotic, family-focused comedy stylings, but the show's premise and other players both sound rather promising: Reiser plays "himself," a few years off TV and still dealing with his residual fame, surrounded by his wife (Amy Landecker), spunky children and dad-bro-friends, one of whom is the always delightful Andy Daly (Eastbound and Down). But it's clear already, from the name and show art alone, who the real star of this show is. The question is: Even if they don't care about three fictional couples, does America want a show all about Paul?
