Jewel's father may start building his own showbiz career soon -- as a reality TV star.
The Discovery channel is launching two new series, including 'Moonshiners,' which follows men who stick the 200-year-old tradition of producing the Appalachian (and illegal) alcoholic beverage, moonshine. The other, tentatively titled 'Mountain Men of Alaska,' will follow Jewel's dad, Atz Kilcher, as he lives off the land.
The show, which will premiere this summer, follows Kilcher as he hunts, fishes and does everything necessary to survive the long, cold Alaskan winter. The show will center around the Kilcher family, who have lived on the same property outside of Homer, Alaska, for three generations.

'American Idol' Elton John Night Boosts Haley Reinhart, Casey Abrams
Pia Toscano and Scotty McCreery also wow the judges.By Gil Kaufman
"American Idol" top ten plus one

Theme nights are always tricky, and on Wednesday (March 30), the "American Idol" top 11 had to take on the imposing catalog of Elton John. Some soared and some crashed, and a couple of recent cellar dwellers — Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart — appeared to pull themselves out of the fire with gutsy performances.
As always on non-country theme weeks, the question was "What is Scotty McCreery going to do this time?" He made the obvious choice, the obscure "Country Comfort," which he picked because it had the word "country" in it, but also because it's one of Elton's only country-leaning tunes.
With lyrics about grandmas and factory closings, it was pretty much what you'd expect: a Vince Gill-esque, aw-shucks acoustic amble accented by pedal steel and piano — with a shout-out to his real granny! — that, well, sounded like just about everything McC has done so far.
"Nothin' I could say to you that an old-fashioned pair of high-heeled cowboy boots wouldn't fix," Steven Tyler gushed cryptically, adding that he (still) loves everything about the teen crooner. Once again, Jennifer Lopez gave the most sage advice, encouraging Scotty not to get too in his head and doubt himself. Randy Jackson marveled at how fast Scotty has matured on the program and said he felt like he was at a headlining show by the "Idol" finalist.
If Scotty always brings the country rumble, dreadlocked rude girl Naima Adedapo similarly finds a way to add a reggae swag to her songs. Wearing a white jumpsuit with red, yellow and green accents, she gave a Bob Marley-esque island vibe to "I'm Still Standing," struggling at points to keep in tune but truly making it her own and creating one of the most unique "Idol" makeovers in the recent memory.
Lopez and Jackson loved the reggae lilt but weren't sure if it wasn't a better idea than the payoff, and maybe a bit corny.
Talk about someone totally in the pocket on Elton night. Paul McDonald went for it with the legendary "Rocket Man," which mentor Jimmy Iovine suggested he play like it was an encore in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Wearing his signature flowered country suit and strumming an acoustic guitar, McDonald started out mellow and seductive, with just a piano for accompaniment. It seemed like he blew off Iovine's advice, because while he retained that ragged Ray LaMontagne vibe, he barely got out of second gear, keeping things mostly low-key and feathery.
Randy called it "quiet comfort" and said, despite being pitchy, Paul's soft, gentle voice was once again infectious, and Jennifer suggested he was holding back and needed to let loose.
"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" is an old "Idol" favorite, and despite being counseled to move out of the ballad-ballad-ballad routine, Pia Toscano went with the emotional staple. With a subtle arrangement, Toscano put the focus squarely on her powerful voice and, backed by a gospel choir, she seemed to hit the sweet spot once more.
"Pia, you've done it again," Tyler said, gently needling Randy's suggestion that Pia switch it up. "That's what you are and you sang it, you nailed it. And you know how I know a good song? It makes me cry inside ... that's just about as good as it gets." Lopez said the notes Pia chooses take the audience to "an otherworldly place" and that Toscano seems poised to break through to another level.
Stefano Langone made his first trip to the bottom three last week, so he was probably hoping that the epic "Tiny Dancer" would do the trick. But the cheesy arrangement and his smarmy Disney-style performance probably didn't save the day.
All three judges liked it and said Stefano seemed to be really taking their notes and trying to connect with the audience, keep his eyes open and his voice focused on his sweet, high range.
Teen Lauren Alaina was just a toddler during the second revival of ultimate weeper "Candle in the Wind" in 1997, but her restrained, country lilt came off like the ultimate mash-up of past "Idol" divas Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Though the performance was a bit sedate, her vocals were controlled and crisp and she gave off her usual über-confident vibe.
For Randy, it was one of the best performances yet from Lauren, and Lopez said it was simply "it," as the panel was unanimous in its praise for the preternaturally poised high-schooler.
"Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)" was the perfect audience-rocking tune for resident hell-raiser James Durbin, who rolled the dice by starting out in the crowd and then slowly making his way down to the stage. He looked like a seasoned arena vet (with a touch of "Rock of Ages" Broadway showmanship), hopping up on the piano, tossing his mic stand and summoning the flames as fire rose up from the candy-apple red keyboard. He topped it off, of course, with one of his rebel yells.
Coming from someone who knows, Tyler told James he had a "really good rock voice," but warned him not to wear out his welcome by overusing his rocksetto upper range. "You'll wind up like me," he joked. Lopez said she forgot it was a reality competition, calling it a great performance by a great artist, and Jackson applauded the fact that James just seems to be having fun when he's onstage.
Also on the cusp of elimination last week, youngest contest Thia Megia went with the poignant "Daniel," with Iovine suggesting that she get away from the high school dramatics and focus on the emotion in the lyrics. She may have taken the advice to heart, but the bland, glitch pop arrangement from Jim Jonsin and Megia's once again pageanty delivery (the ground cover of fog didn't help) mostly fell flat until the very last verse, where some palpable passion came into her quavering voice.
"That was beautiful!" J.Lo enthused, saying Megia really seemed to internalize the song's meaning and find a tune that fit her style. Randy liked how it showed Thia's more relaxed side, but once again felt a bit safe, while Tyler said she found the right song to suit her voice.
After nearly going home last week, Casey Abrams was out to prove the judges' save was worth it. He also took their advice and toned down his screeching and scowling for "Your Song." Sitting on a stool and accompanied by just piano, the more clean-cut singer (he chickened out on shaving his beard) was nuanced and understated, piling on some gritty emotion at the end and capping it all with a sweet falsetto run.
Randy reiterated that saving Casey was the best decision he and his fellow judges ever made on the show and said Abrams' tender yet still personality-plus performance was "absolutely brilliant."
It's fitting that Jacob Lusk first heard Mary J. Blige's version of "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word" before he heard John's original. And, wouldn't you know it? Mary J. just happened to walk through the room when J.Lusk was rehearsing! With fog billowing around him, the gospel divo stood under a dramatic spotlight and gave a solemn, nearly funereal reading of the song, appearing on the verge of tears as he leaned heavily on his quavering, throaty falsetto and ignored Iovine's advice to not be overly theatrical.
The version simply slayed Tyler, who loved everything about it, with Lopez giving props to producer "Tricky" Stewart for tailoring the song to Lusk's voice and including a last, longing note. Randy praised his restraint, but told Lusk to pick that one special "Jacob spot" where he mashes his foot down on the gas.
For someone who has been a frequent visitor to the bottom three, it was surprising to see Haley Reinhart close Wednesday night's show. She went mellow with the rocker "Bennie and the Jets," and though she posed on the piano in her best "Fabulous Baker Boys" mode at the start, Haley transformed the FM radio staple into a stompy, bluesy lounge growler by the end.
It was all a bit odd, but the judges were way into it, with Jennifer yelling, "That was it, Haley! That's what we've been talking about," saying that, as Iovine suggested, she pulled the voice, the moves and confidence together to finally form a winning package. In fact, Randy barked that it the night's best performance as Tyler snarled about how sexy it was.
Thursday night's double-elimination show will feature season-three "Idol" winner Fantasia performing her new single "Collard Greens & Cornbread," and will.i.am and Jamie Foxx throwing down their first-ever musical collaboration, "Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)," from the "Rio" soundtrack.

TV 101: Who Cares If the Stars Are Dancing?
Filed under: FeaturesI watch a lot of television -- some would say an unhealthy amount -- walking the thin line between hobby and obsession. I have the luxury of having jobs (writing, teaching) that allow me to sheepishly categorize my viewing habits as "research," no different from Cousteau or Goodall, but probably with more Cheetos.
Through all the "research," all the time spent lying in bed thinking, all the shouting of things at random passers-by, there's still one thing I have yet to wrap my admittedly gargantuan head around: Why does anyone -- even members of her own family -- care what Kirstie Alley is doing?! Unless she's making you a pie or babysitting your infant (that's my show idea -- don't even think about stealing it), why would anyone care?
I don't mean to single out Ms. Alley, but I'm using her as an emblem for all of celebreality-dom. The truth is that there are countless others out there slapping on makeup and inking deals with the devil for one more shot at being recognized in line at Subway -- enough to necessitate the obnoxious term "celebreality." Obama Justifies U.S. Intervention In Libya (LA Times)
President Barack Obama told a skeptical American public that he ordered military action in Libya because circumstances allowed the U.S. and its allies to halt a humanitarian disaster, but he acknowledged that even a weakened Moammar Kadafi still may be a long way from leaving power. Politico: Republican presidential hopefuls wasted no time in lambasting President Obama's national address on Libya Monday night, taking to the airwaves to accuse him of failing to exercise American leadership or articulate a clear mission and end-game in the north African country. Mediaite: And despite the many critiques from the left on opening up yet another warfront for America, the reception to his statements from Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell last night was overwhelmingly positive.

Mediaite: And despite the many critiques from the left on opening up yet another warfront for America, the reception to his statements from Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell last night was overwhelmingly positive.
GE, The New York Times, And The Hazards Of 'Tweeting The Record Straight' (Business Insider)
We spent much of this afternoon sparring with GE's public affairs division on Twitter over a New York Times report that GE paid no U.S. taxes last year. HuffPost: In a peculiar gambit, GE's strategy seems to be to use Twitter -- via @GEpublicaffairs, a still uncertified account -- to respond to a random assortment of writers at various outlets totally unaffiliated with The New York Times, who just happened to tweet the story at some point.

Nicki Manaj's Alto Ego Talks "X Factor"
Asked about her talks with Simon Cowell over a potential "X Factor" judge gig, Nicki Minaj Nicki Minaj drummed up her protectively flirty alter ego, Martha, when it came to the response.
The Lil Wayne protg, said this while chatting (in a British accent) to MTV, "I can't talk about that, but I love Simon very dearly. He's such an amazing man. I had the pleasure of meeting him and my life will never be the same, darling. I told him that. I was absolutely in love with him prior to meeting him. And now that I've met him, it's like I dream about him every night."
Simon, for his part, seemed equally smitten with the hip-hop star, raving about the Young Money MC in an interview with XXL - saying they've spoken about various business opportunities.
Cowell divulged this about the secretive talk, "We spoke to Nicki actually about a lot of projects. It wasn't specifically about this, but we were just very interested to meet her. I'm a big fan of hers. So I don't know if it's gonna be this show or something in the future, but it was definitely somebody I wanted to meet."

Why would you want to print out Wikipedia?
In what seems like a huge waste of paper for the sake of art, London-based artist Rob Matthews printed out all of Wikipedia?s ?featured articles,? totaling 2,559 entries andabout 5,000 pages worth of content. Since Wikipedia has 3,597,798 articles in English alone, this project doesn’t demonstrate its potential aim of how much information the Internet [...]
'United States of Tara' Season 3, Episode 1 (Season Premiere) Recap
Filed under: Reality-Free, Recaps['United States of Tara' - '...youwillnotwin...']
Few shows currently on television -- network or cable -- have a quirkier premise than Showtime's 'United States of Tara,' the familial dramedy centered around a woman, her husband and kids, and her multiple personalities.
We last saw the Gregson clan back in June 2010 (no wonder I've been in withdrawal!), at a typically eventful almost-wedding. It's been a long nine months, but this show is always worth the wait. The season opened on a slightly more successful social event -- a Labor Day barbecue -- but despite outward appearances, not much has changed. Charmaine is pretty much ready to pop with Neil's illegitimate lovechild, Kate's still a brat, Marshall's still involved with Lionel, and Tara's still going AWOL at inopportune moments when one of her alters hijacks her body for kicks. Jude Law Stands Up For Human Rights In Belarus
Standing up for what he believes in, Jude Law protested in the streets of London, England earlier today (March 28) for those who are currently detained in Belarus.
The 38-year-old English actor showed his support for effort to defend human rights after Belarus detained international journalists who are charged with insulting the nation?s president.
Jude said this to the press, "We have the opportunity in this country to protest, to be heard and to use our freedom of speech. It's our responsibility, therefore, that we speak for those who are less fortunate, especially as fellow Europeans."
Law was joined in his efforts by fellow actor Kevin Spacey, along with more than 100 others, as the group called for an end of dictatorship in that country.

Two Reuters TV Journalists Missing In Syria (Reuters)
Two Reuters television journalists have been missing in Syria since Saturday night, when they were due to return to Lebanon. Beirut-based producer Ayat Basma and cameraman Ezzat Baltaji had been expected to cross into Lebanon by road at approximately 1830 GMT (2:30 p.m. ET) on Saturday, where they had arranged for a taxi to pick them up from the border. The last known contact was at 1722 GMT (1:22 p.m. ET), when Baltaji sent a phone message to a colleague in Beirut in which he said: "We will leave now." FishbowlNY: Reuters editor-in-chief Stephen Adler said: "Reuters is deeply concerned about our two Reuters television colleagues who went missing in Syria on Saturday. We have reached out to the relevant authorities in Syria and have asked for their help in securing our colleagues' safe return home."
Orlando Sentinel Reporter Covers Joe Biden Fundraiser From Inside Storage Closet (Orlando Sentinel / Central Florida Political Pulse)
Turns out the veep hadn't arrived, but about 150 guests (minimum donation $500) were already in the house. So to prevent Scott Powers from mingling with the crowd, a member of Biden's advance team consigned him to a storage closet -- and then stood outside the door to make sure he didn't walk out without permission. Mediaite: When Biden and Florida Senator Bill Nelson finally arrived, Powers was released to listen to them speak for 35 minutes. Then after the speech, he was sentenced back to the closet, where he served out his time for the remainder of the event.

'American Idol': Did The Judges Use The Save Too Soon?
Ryan Seacrest promised a "shocking result" on American Idol tonight, and he pretty much delivered. We were all writing off Haley Reinhart. But no, she was safe this week. She wasn't even in the bottom three, which is good news in a way, but frustrating nonetheless. Instead, Casey Abrams, perhaps one of the stronger contenders this season, got the least amount of votes. He can't be going home, right? Of course, he wasn't -- from the moment Randy Jackson interrupted his performance, we knew he was going to be saved. And yes, the judges used their only save of the season on him. Read our recap of Idol's "shocking" results show

LAS VEGAS — As showtime for Britney Spears' special performance at the Palms in Las Vegas draws closer, fans have already begun to cluster in the lobby of the hotel to make sure they get a plumb spot at the show. And for many, just seeing Spears' name on the marquee, alongside that of house DJ Pauly D, certainly added to the excitement.
"We're so excited. We were Britney Spears for Halloween," Spears fan Kelsey told us. Kelsey and a group of eight of her best girlfriends already had plans to be at the Palms for spring break when they found out they'd also be checking out the Femme Fatale star herself. The one-off performance will be filmed by MTV.
Check out hot photos from Britney's Las Vegas show.
Katie, who was one of the lucky fans to get a coveted ticket for the show, added, "We have no idea what will happen. We're really excited about the show. I think no matter what it is, we'll be super-excited."
With so much about the show under wraps, the Britney fans we spoke to said they have high hopes that Spears will be true to form. "I feel like the old Britney's finally back so we're excited," one said. "I think it's the whole show together. It's the whole production [that we're excited to see]. The choreography, lighting, the energy in the crowd. We're lucky to know that you're one of the few who get to see her. Super-lucky!"
Spears' latest album, Femme Fatale, arrives Tuesday after months of song and video teasers.

'Grey's Anatomy' Fan Columnist: Heartbreak and a Heart-Stopping Ending
Oh, Grey's Anatomy, how you torment me so. If "This Is How We Do It," then I've got a bone to pick with you. There were so many great things in last night's episode (I'll get to them later), but there were also three plot developments that were so heavy-handed in both their purpose and their execution that I wanted to scream.
#1: Callie and Arizona's Car Accident
Unless you've been living on Jupiter, you're probably aware that next week is GA's Big Musical Event, and the accident that closed this episode sets the stage for that development. Fine, but did it really have to be so blatantly obvious that Calzona's weekend away would soon go horribly wrong? Arizona throws Callie's cell phone into the backseat. Callie takes off her seat belt to retrieve it and neglects to refasten it immediately. Callie and Arizona (who is DRIVING THE CAR) keep looking at each other for ridiculously long periods of time. Really? On the upside, the previews for next week look and sound amazing, so maybe this will be worth it in the end.

David Guetta Brings F.M.I.F. Party To Miami Music Week
Guetta and his wife, Cathy, present their 'F--- Me I'm Famous' brand in the U.S.By Akshay Bhansali

MIAMI — French beatsmith David Guetta and his wife Cathy plan to launch their clubber power-party brand in the U.S. in a big way. Called "F--- Me I'm Famous," it's named after the electronic dance music party that takes place every year as part of the summer EDM circuit in Ibiza, Spain.
On Saturday (March 26) at Club Mansion in Miami, Cathy and David delivered a brand debut of sorts for attendees of Miami Music Week. The Guettas and record label EMI have signed a global partnership to promote F.M.I.F. events around the world, and they're banking on seeing it blossom here in the States.
With frequent collaborator and friend will.i.am and Dutch house-music producer Sidney Sampson by his side, David Guetta took to the decks just after 1 a.m. Saturday and charged into a vicious Afrojack tune, followed by his hit single "One Love" and "Gettin' Over You," the chorus of which fans in the house knew by heart. As Guetta dropped out the sound, the audience belted out Fergie's vocals without missing a beat.
After spinning hit singles "Sexy Chick" and Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me," Guetta dropped in his fiery mix of Far East Movement's "Like a G6," a joint the DJ/producer has no plans to release but which he's shared with lil' brother Afrojack for their touring gigs. The Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" followed.
Notably, will.i.am joined DG onstage to repeatedly lend the vocal "Everybody!" and a set of freestyle bars on what's possibly a new song, a banger with a progressive break that peaks into a driving house tune after LMFAO vocals announce, "I'm David Guetta, bitch!"
So club fans, rejoice: More F--- Me I'm Famous parties are right around the corner. When we caught up with Guetta on Friday afternoon, he was pleased to announce the brand has found a home in Las Vegas.
"I'm super-excited about this, the F--- Me I'm Famous party," Guetta said. "I'm taking over Vegas. This is gonna be crazy. We are starting a pool party at Wet Republic, and that's gonna be every Sunday.
"It's the first time we are gonna do a residency like this, except in Ibiza. We're gonna do also three really big concerts at the Joint [at the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino]. We have one for Memorial Day. That's gonna be a big thing. We're gonna come with the whole production from Europe. So this is probably an important moment for our brand, F--- Me I'm Famous, starting to find a life and a home in America.
The F--- Me I'm Famous party at Wet Republic in Las Vegas will open April 10 and run Sundays through May 1, according to Wet Republic Las Vegas' website.

This week the Top 11 faced Classic Motown head on and the results were mostly positive. While it was a good show overall, someone must go home this week, and I think it will probably be another girl. Britney Spears Electrifies Las Vegas With Nightclub Performance
Pop star hypes Femme Fatale's release with flirty Friday night set.By Jocelyn Vena

LAS VEGAS — After a killer set from "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D on Friday night (March 25), a montage of Britney Spears' best video moments played to a hyped crowd at Rain nightclub inside the Palms Casino and Resort. Once the videos wrapped, the crowd went even crazier as the Femme Fatale herself hit the stage.
Spears sported a stunning sequined bodysuit and performed her first song of the night, lead single "Hold It Against Me." Flanked by sexy male dancers, she sashayed her way through the song, which included sexy hair-tossing and a wind machine.
Check out hot photos from Britney's Las Vegas show.
For her second song of the night, Spears debuted the will.i.am-produced track "Big Fat Bass." Her dancers hit the stage in bright yellow, while Spears opted for a body-hugging latex bodysuit. She emerged from a speaker box, and the appearance had her fans screaming. The track was remixed to include past hits like "3," "Slave 4 U" and "Gimme More." She danced around the stage and climbed up on speakers as she danced to the track.
Britney kicked it up a few futuristic notches for her latest club banger, "Till the World Ends." The stage was filled with ladders, LED lighting, dancers and Spears in a black latex bodysuit covered in red lights. She clearly was having a good time, smiling to her fans. Her choreography was decidedly sexy, including flirty dance moves with her male dancers.
At the end, Spears ascended the ladders and ended up on a platform, gyrating from above the room. As fireworks lit the stage, Spears danced and tossed her hair as the song closed. The room was filled with electricity and excitement.
The performance was being taped by MTV for a special airing next week. A teaser will debut Tuesday on MTV, the same day Spears' latest album, Femme Fatale, hits stores.

John Rich Defends Trace Adkins on 'Celebrity Apprentice'
WireImages, Getty Images
John Rich is the latest country star to appear on the NBC hit TV show, 'Celebrity Apprentice.' He was preceded by both Clint Black and Trace Adkins, who became a runner-up before losing to journalist and TV personality Piers Morgan in 2008. But while the singer-songwriter hopes to be the first Nashville star to win the grand prize, he is also fiercely defending one of his predecessors.
Apparently, the show's creator and host, business mogul Donald Trump, was unaware of Trace's lengthy -- and legendary -- music career before he appeared on 'Apprentice,' and tried to claim ownership of most of Trace's success.
"I said, 'Well, actually he was multi-platinum before he came on your show," John recalls (quote via New Mexico radio station KGRT). "He goes, 'No, no. Trace Adkins, he was basically no one.'"

Chris Brown Parts Ways With Rep After 'Good Morning America' Incident
Tammy Brook reportedly left singer's camp on Friday.By James Montgomery

The fallout from Chris Brown's post-"Good Morning America" outburst continued on Friday (March 25), when The New York Post's Page Six reported that the singer has parted ways with his publicist, Tammy Brook.
Brook, who also reps athletes like Mike Tyson and Chris Bosh, could not be reached for comment by the newspaper, but according to other reports, she "quit" the job.
A source tells MTV News that the decision was mutual, but regardless, the news caps off a tumultuous week for Brown, who allegedly smashed a window at ABC's Times Square studios following his interview with Robin Roberts, in which she repeatedly brought up his 2009 assault on then girlfriend Rihanna and the subsequent legal drama that followed. Brown then reacted to the interview in a (since deleted) tweet that read, "I'm so over people bringing this past sh-- up!!! Yet we praise Charlie Sheen and other celebs for [their] bullsh--."
That interview occurred on Tuesday, the same day Brown dropped his F.A.M.E. album, and hours before he was set to appear on MTV's "The Seven" to premiere his brand-new video for the single "Beautiful People," an appearance he subsequently canceled. Later that night, at his album release party, Brown was reportedly in great spirits. He has also apologized for the "GMA" incident, saying on BET's
"106 & Park" that he was "disappointed in the way [he] acted."
All that drama hasn't affected his album sales, though. According to Billboard, Brown's F.A.M.E. album is set to debut atop the albums chart next week, with projected sales of 250,000-300,000 copies.

Rodney Crowell Strolls Down 'Chinaberry Sidewalks'

Rodney Crowell may have welcomed Marshall Chapman and Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) to his March 20 show at the legendary Birchmere, Alexandria, Va., but his efforts were clearly for the "every man" in the audience.
Dressed nattily in a dark suit and tie with crisp white dress shirt, the much-honored member of the Nashville Songwriters' Hall of Fame strolled onto the stage -- decorated like a casual living area with a standing lamp and small desk -- as the near capacity audience thundered its hello.
"Welcome to the 'Chinaberry Sidewalks' tour," Rodney told the crowd, pausing as an audience member yelled out his praise for the memoir. "Thank you. I was fishing for that."

'American Idol' Mansion Haunted or Contestants Just High Maintenance?

After the season 10 'American Idol' contestants claimed living in the plush 'Idol' mansion was turning into 'Paranormal Activity 3,'on Monday night the show's producers moved the 11 'Idols' into less spooky digs.
After TMZ broke the story earlier this week, 'Idol' producers turned the whole to-do into a silly segment on the local news here in New York, after last night's insane results show. In fact, when Nigel Lythgoe and Ryan Seacrest took to Twitter to hype the "shocking" elimination hour, many feared it was the "haunted mansion" nonsense we'd be subjected to, not one of the best 'Idol' episodes ever! Casey Abrams Saved On 'American Idol'
Stefano Langone, Thia Megia join seeming front-runner in bottom three.By Gil Kaufman

The thing about being a front-runner on "American Idol" is you never know when America's voters are going to turn on you. Unlikely bearded sex symbol Casey Abrams learned that lesson the hard way on Thursday night (March 24) when he made a surprise visit to the bottom three.
Actually, he was not only in the bottom three, he was the lowest vote-getter and, in the biggest surprise so far of the season, he had to sing for his supper to keep from being eliminated in one of the most chaotic finishes to an "Idol" results show in history. He ended up being bailed out by this season's one and only judges' save, but the scare was hopefully enough to teach all the remaining top 10 that nobody is immune this season.
In fact, after two weeks of all-female bottom threes, on Thursday night's show, not only did a male contestant almost go home, but the two bottom vote-getters were both boys, reversing the gender tide that had been building.
In the end, it was Abrams on the chopping block. He began singing "I Don't Need No Doctor," the song that got him on the show in the audition round, but he had barely begun when Randy Jackson cut him off and asked for the musicians to stop. The tension filled the air as a confused Abrams looked around to see what he might have done wrong to anger the judges.
"We were wondering when we heard the results, 'Why is Casey at the bottom?' We don't know. You deserve to be here," Jennifer Lopez explained, telling Abrams that when the judges heard the results, they knew immediately that they would pull the ripcord on the save.
Casey, who has already taken two trips to the hospital to deal with a stomach ailment tied to stress, looked like he was going to be sick and was clearly overcome with confusion over the decision. "Are you kidding?" he said, visibly shaking as he went and embraced the judges, repeating the words, "I can't believe it!" He fell to his knees as host Ryan Seacrest embraced him then raced out to hug his mother as the rest of the contestants welled up with tears at the emotional moment.
"I thought that they ... I knew if there was someone that got cut tonight ... I thought they wouldn't use the save," Abrams stammered. "It's unreal ... I started singing and the fact that you cut it ... scared the stuff out of me."
Lopez said when the judges heard the results they were confused and they knew they had to act. "We just want you to get back to the musician that you are," she said. "No more antics ... you deserve to be here." Randy told Casey to cut out the growling and use his formidable skills and not lean on gimmicky tricks, such as his widely derided emo-funk take on Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" last week. What all the drama means is that two people will go home next week, but, as previously decided by producers, for the first time, 11 singers will go out on this summer's tour.
It was a wild cap to a night that never quite went the way many experts had predicted. Lauren Alaina, Pia Toscano and Scotty McCreery were the first trio brought out as Seacrest began building the bottom three early in the show. And, no surprise, all three made it into the top 10. The second group featured James Durbin and Paul McDonald, both of whom seemed like sure bets to make it through as well. And, of course, they were safe, though Durbin nearly had a heart attack when Seacrest called out the wrestling maniac's hero, Hulk Hogan, to deliver the good news, as well as a smackdown to Seacrest.
The third group was bound to feature at least one bottom-three dweller, but it was both Stefano Langone and teen Thia Megia who got the hook and headed to the cellar for the first time.
There was more bad news when Abrams, Haley Reinhart and Naima Adedapo stepped up. When Ryan said he was sending someone back to safety, Naima pointed at Casey, assuming he was the one escaping the bottom, but she was shocked to get the pass herself. And then things went way off-track when season-long favorite Abrams was sent to the naughty stools for the first time in the finals after seemingly nailing "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." the night before.
Megia was the first one sent back to safety, and after three weeks in which the judges have shown him endless love, suddenly Abrams did not have as self-satisfied a look on his face and seemed like he was feeling the pressure of potential elimination.
It was a roller coaster of a night, all right, one that began with the top 11 wearing contrasting black suits and white sparkly dresses for a group sing-along to "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." But instead of the usual bland medley, none other than Motown legend Stevie Wonder came out to serenade them with his funky hit "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours." Wonder then called out judge Steven Tyler and serenaded him with "Happy Birthday" on the rocker's 63rd birthday.
The show also featured a performance of the country-pop ditty "Stuck Like Glue" by twangtastic duo Sugarland and a visit from season three "Idol" finalist and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, who performed the first single from her second album, I Remember Me, the funky, dramatic ballad "Where You At?"
What do you think of the judges using their save on Casey? Did he deserve it? Let us know in comments below!

Rebecca Black: Donating "Friday" Proceeds to Japan Relief
Rebecca Black's smash-single "Friday" has gone mega-viral on YouTube, and now the Internet sensation is giving her proceeds to help relief efforts in Japan.
The YouTube video, first posted on February 10th, has already amassed close to 40 million hits and created an undeniable buzz - despite critics having less than stellar remarks regarding her talent.
Now, the 13-year-old is taking her earnings from the "Friday" hit and putting the cash to good use.
When asked about the money she's made so far, Rebecca told Us magazine, "I am donating money to my school and Japan. My school, El Rancho Charter is really where I started focusing on singing. I feel bad. Japan happened so close to mine, and I feel like I?m taking away attention from it. I really just want to give back."

'American Idol' Live Recap: Top 11 Gain Confidence from Motown Hits
It's Motown Week! I'm excited for so many reasons, at least half of them being Scotty McCreery. Motown is fun, and presents a challenge for the remaining contestants. We'll see if I got any of my predictions right (probably not). Also, since it's a FAMILY show, we're watching this episode with my family so if/when the judges say something dull, I will substitute my parents' or brother's opinions. It will be fun!Jennifer looks like a cupcake tonight. I don't have a problem with it. First thing's first: Ryan educates us (and some of the contestants) about Motown. Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross--maybe you've heard of them?
Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. Album To Debut At Top Of Chart

Despite his headline-making outburst following an interview with "Good Morning America," for which he later apologized in an interview with BET's 106 & Park, it seems that Chris Brown's latest release, F.A.M.E., is slated to jump to the top of the album chart next week.
According to Billboard, the album will sell approximately 250,000 to 300,000 copies by the time the week ends. It marks the first time Brown has had one of his albums debut at #1. His previous efforts, Chris Brown, Exclusive (2007) and 2009's Graffiti, debuted at #2, #4 and #7, respectively.
Brown's overwhelming chart success may come as a surprise to experts, who believed that given all the negative headlines this week, Brown's behavior may have turned off potential fans. "I definitely think this is a huge step back for him," Ian Drew, senior music editor at Us Weekly, said. "It was a huge mistake. You control how you react. He didn't react the right way.
"[But] there's always a way back ... My advice to him would be: Just don't do any interviews and put out a strong record and let it speak for itself," Drew continued. "Let the music do the talking. Let that be the statement."
Brown isn't the only new release on the charts next week. Jennifer Hudson's I Remember Me will hit the charts at #2 with around 160,000 units projected to be sold. The Strokes, who released their first new album in a half a decade, may potentially debut at #3, selling around 90,000 units with Angles. Adele, who held the top spot with her album 21, will be bumped to #5, with Kirk Franklin's Hello Fear hitting #4.

Casey Abrams opened it up with "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." I thought it was a perfect choice, but like I say every week, I'm still missing the softer side of his vocals. I want to see the jazz come out. The cool, vibe-y side I know he has.
I think Jacob Lusk was my favorite last night. The dynamics of his performance were perfection. I loved how he listened to the judges and Jimmy Iovine. He held back and it paid off. Flawless performance and hugs from everyone. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

'The Good Wife' Fan Columnist: Sandwiched Between Truth and Lies
The Good Wife often revolves around a simple question: What would you do to get what you want? Betray a friend? Betray a principal? Commit perjury? Commit murder?During "Ham Sandwich" (the term refers to the old saying that a Chicago grand jury will indict pretty much anything in its path), we learn a little too much about what people will do to achieve their own ends. But because TGW also offers the shades of gray that most network TV lacks, nothing and no one are as simple as they at first appear.

Microsoft backtracks: no global one-day IE9 push
After we broke the news that Microsoft had plans to push IE9 to the world via Windows Update, something that we reminded you of on the promised day, Microsoft has reversed its course. Microsoft calls the whole ordeal a “miscommunication.” If by that they mean that they told the world several times one thing, and [...]
Tyler The Creator Wants To Take Justin Bieber 'Egging Cars'
After meeting the Biebs, Odd Future MC tells MTV News he wants them to 'do fun sh-- that I feel like he hasn't been able to do.'By Steven Roberts, with reporting by Christopher "CJ" Smith

Needless to say, Justin Bieber has a lot fans. From Kanye West to Kim Kardashian to nearly every teenage girl in the world, Bieber has amassed quite a dedicated following. But he seems to have picked a rather odd fan along the way as well.
Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator has Bieber Fever in a big way. In fact, hehas called the teenage Canuck his Idol. In the days leading up to the premiere of Bieber's 3-D movie, "Never Say Never," Tyler could be found online tweeting down the days until its release. So of course, when the two finally met Tyler was excited.
"I WAS JUST WITH JUSITN F---ING BIEBER. F---," Tyler tweeted. "HE LIKED YONKERS, F---."
Two photos emerged of the two together, one blurry and the other showing both teen sensations posing side-by-side. When MTV News caught up with Tyler — and the rest of Odd Future — at South by Southwest, he still had a huge smile on his face.
"We [were] kicking it with him for like 10, 20 minutes. He's a chill dude. First thing he was like, 'Oh, I just finished talking about your video, that sh-- was crazy," Tyler said. "He just started asking me questions about my sh--, and it was kind of weird because I was going to ask him sh--. But he was intrigued enough [about] what we had going on."
He also said he showed the Biebs how to pose for their photo. Initially, Bieber threw up the peace sign, but Tyler convinced him to swag it out another way. Bieber was really chill and Tyler hopes they'll hang out soon.
"I want to take him egging cars and f---ing sh-- up and paintball and just go skate and go do fun sh-- that I feel like he hasn't been able to do."
What do you think of Tyler and Justin's budding bromance? Tell us in the comments!

Can 'The Paul Reiser Show' Bring the Funny Better Than 'Perfect Couples'?
More programming news from NBC: Not long ago we learned that the network was developing The Paul Reiser Show with the former Mad About You star, but the series had no premiere date, and we wondered if it would ever see the light of primetime. Now we know when we will finally get to see the show that has been described as a "Curb Your Enthusiasm-lite": April 14 at 8:30pm, between Community and The Office.NBC is pulling Perfect Couples to make way for Reiser. And with flailing ratings, lukewarm reviews and two episodes left in the can, the diagnosis looks like cancellation for the young ensemble series about those crazy, ironically titled couples.I can't say I was laying awake at night wondering where Paul Reiser was and why he was depriving us of his neurotic, family-focused comedy stylings, but the show's premise and other players both sound rather promising: Reiser plays "himself," a few years off TV and still dealing with his residual fame, surrounded by his wife (Amy Landecker), spunky children and dad-bro-friends, one of whom is the always delightful Andy Daly (Eastbound and Down). But it's clear already, from the name and show art alone, who the real star of this show is. The question is: Even if they don't care about three fictional couples, does America want a show all about Paul?

Another Mishap For Revamped Broadway 'Spider-Man'
T.V. Carpio, who replaced Natalie Mendoza in the role of the villain Arachne, is the latest to be injured in a Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark preview performance. Mendoza left the show after being hit in the head by a rope, and Carpio suffered what The New York Times deemed a neck injury in a climactic battle scene with Peter Parker. This one was not a high-flying aerial sequence, at least. The latest in a litany of injuries happened while the show is being overhauled by incoming writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and director Philip William McKinley, in anticipation of a June 14 opening. The show has received state and federal violations after the accidents and was blasted by critics who reviewed despite the $65 million budget production pushing back its opening curtain again and again.

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Chyler Leigh Talks New Love, Old Flames, The Music Event & More
Filed under: Reality-Free, Celebrity Interviews, The Show GirlI don't know a single 'Grey's Anatomy' fan that isn't going through withdrawal. We haven't had a new episode in a month, and the teases and scoops and sneak peek videos have been enough to drive anyone to a rage-filled Seattle Grace shoot-out. (Too soon?)
Never fear because there's finally a new episode this week (Thurs., March 24, 9PM ET on ABC). I caught up with star Chyler Leigh, the forever in flux Dr. Lexie Grey -- who was last seen showering with sexy Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) -- to find out what's coming next.
First up, there's this week's big baby shower episode for Callie, complete with the typical shower games and, in true 'Grey's' fashion, some major drama.
Then next week we'll finally see The Music Event, 'Grey's Anatomy''s much-anticipated 'Song Beneath the Song' musical episode, in which Leigh will be singing Anna Nalick's 'Breathe (2 AM),' alongside cast performances of The Fray's 'How to Save a Life,' Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' and other songs that the show has helped make famous.
Leigh dished about Lexie's newfound relationship with Jackson, her ongoing flirtation with Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) and more. Then she tried her best not to spoil anything about the big music-filled extravaganza (Thurs., March 31, 9PM ET). Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Meanwhile, comedienne Sarah Silverman also made an appearance at the gig to support her "Super" pals including ?Juno? actress Ellen Page.
?The Office? funny man Rainn Wilson showed up to his latest project's debut, as well, sporting a checked button-up shirt with a dark suit and horn-rimmed glasses.

It sounds like Trent Tomlinson is about to ink a brand new record deal for himself, judging by what the 'One Wing in the Fire' singer has been sharing with fans this past week, via his Twitter account.
"Big meeting tomorrow in Nashville at 10am!!" the handsome, do-ragged singer tweeted last Wednesday night (March 16).
Apparently, the big meeting happened to be with new indie label, Skyville Records. The next day (March 17), Trent took to his Twitter account once again, sounding over the moon with joyous anticipation.
"Had a great meeting!!" he tweeted. "Thanks to Paul Worley and Wally Wilson for giving me the opportunity to be the next artist on Skyville Records! And also Kevin Herring for making it all possible!"

The country star/actor appeared on ABC's 'The View' last week, happily announcing to Whoopi and her co-hosts that he's called off his divorce from wife of 17 years, Tish. He was equally proud to report that rocky relations with daughter Miley have gotten much better, and that his family is back on track.
In an unaired segment, Billy Ray also apparently talked a little shop. According to the New York Post, he pitched a movie idea to Whoopi. He's written a screenplay called 'Paris,' and wants the Oscar-winning actress to direct and star in the film.

Jason Aldean Got 'Party' Started One Fan at a Time

Jason Aldean believes that with this year's My Kinda Party tour, he's finally able to give fans the kind of show he himself would like to see. He cites the increased use of video screens, lights and staging as some of the reasons for that pronouncement. Yet if it weren't for the fans, and the singer's hits, including 'Big Green Tractor,' 'She's Country' and his current No. 1 with Kelly Clarkson, 'Don't You Wanna Stay,' he wouldn't be able to add those elements to his show.
"It all comes down to the song," Jason tells The Boot. "We built our career one song and one fan at a time."
Now that he has exploded as a major touring act, Jason says he is afforded the luxury of putting on a show that's visually exciting as well as one that's awesome from the music point of view.

Kanye West Brings G.O.O.D. Music, Jay-Z To Texas For SXSW

AUSTIN, Texas — South by Southwest 2011 had its fair share of amazing performances this year, but Kanye West's show Saturday night at the Vevo Power Plant was certainly hard to top. Officially billed as Vevo Presents: G.O.O.D. Music featuring Kanye West, John Legend, Common, Kid Cudi, Mos Def and more, the event concluded with a 90-minute Kanye set that ran until just past 4 a.m.
Photos from the G.O.O.D. Music show with Kanye, Jay-Z and more.
The night's festivities were opened by Mos Def. Dressed in black and wearing a shiny costume mask, he performed songs like "Oh No" and "Casa Bey" before ceding the stage to Pusha T. Pusha greeted fans with the Clipse's "Grindin' " and closed with the popular mixtape cut "Fear of God." He was followed by Big Sean and then Cyhi Da Prince, who performed with a violinist. While Mr. Hudson's songs seemed largely foreign to the diverse audience, in a bit of foreshadowing, he closed with his hook from Jay-Z's "Forever Young." Then, a short dance sequence by Fonzworth Bentley lead to a Kid Cudi set. Cudi had fans fist-pumping to the Crookers remix of "Day 'N' Nite" then singing a cappella along with him to "Pursuit of Happiness."
Then it was time for the main event. At roughly 2:30 a.m., after fans had braved hours on their feet (including the time spent waiting in line to get in since the early afternoon), Kanye West sauntered onto a stage draped in red light. The operatic flourishes of "Dark Fantasy," from his latest LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, rose in volume as his silhouette appeared. Backed by DJ Cassidy, 'Ye — in a black leather jacket, black gloves and black sunglasses — tore through the opening cut. After revisiting his older catalog with "Can't Tell Me Nothing," he stepped back to the current day and brought John Legend out to perform the popular G.O.O.D. Friday track "Christian Dior Denim Flow." Legend stayed onstage and they performed "Blame Game" together before John manned the keys solo for "Ordinary People."
The night hit its stride when 'Ye brought out the MPC for a VMA-like performance of "Runaway." He danced around stage as the beat played, and harmonized during an extended outro. As the song ended, he put his head down, clutched the microphone and turned his back to the crowd. A brass band joined him for "All of the Lights" and the venue seemed to shake beneath the song's heavy kick drums.
Kanye then exited the stage, only to return with Jay-Z. They performed "H.A.M." together, then ran through a medley of songs they're both featured on. "Swagga Like Us" kicked in, but Kanye lost track of the tune. "I forgot that one," he admitted.
It was Jay-Z's turn to take over the set, and of course, diamonds were in the sky for "Public Service Announcement." "Austin, Texas, if you're having a good time with G.O.O.D. Music tonight, make some noise!" Jay said.
Jay finished, appropriately, with "Big Pimpin," the cut that features popular Texas-bred rappers UGK. Hov led the crowd in reciting the late Pimp C's verse before leaving the stage.
The show switched back to Kanye's newer material, and when "Lost in the World" began, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon took the stage. Dressed in black, staring straight down, he sang his haunting verse while Kanye returned to perform the rest of the song.
Everyone from G.O.O.D. Music joined Kanye onstage to sing the chorus of the final song, "Good Life," as West drew the show to a close.

In his upcoming film, the 1930s period drama "Water for Elephants," based on Sara Gruen's best-selling novel of the same name, Robert Pattinson begins to show new depth and range as an actor. Plus, his hair looks really, really different.
Much like his career, RPattz's hair is evolving. So, when MTV News sat down with the star for "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," it seemed like the perfect time to reflect on the diverse coifs that have sent his follicle-obsessed fans into a frenzy.
From his "Twilight"-appropriate 'dos such as "The Wavy Forest" and "The Cullen Pouf" to the self-explanatory "Windswept 'What the F---' " to the more subdued and serious looks like "Controlled Chaos" and "Clean & Cut but Hold the Shave," Pattinson took a trip down memory lane of the many haircuts he's rocked.
"I always like ... the 'Forest' thing," he said. Turns out, that particular hair style carried him through what he describes as the "unemployable" phase of his career. While attending the Los Angeles premiere of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" in 2007, Pattinson admitted to looking rather, well, unkempt.
"I walked down Hollywood Boulevard to Grauman's [Chinese Theater] and had to walk through the crowd and stuff," recalled the 24-year-old star who was not yet famous, adding, "I was so hungover and so bloated, and some of the pictures are just so funny. It literally looks like someone just found a homeless person and just put them on [the red carpet]. ... It was so ridiculous."
So, what is it that helps the star maintain that tousled, albeit sometimes homeless-looking hair? Courtesy of his "Twilight" co-star Ashley Greene, we asked RPattz what brand of shampoo he uses: "I use dog shampoo," he joked. In reality, he, like so many other sexy slacker types before him, simply uses, "Whatever is around."
But, the question remained: Would Pattinson ever rock the oh-so-sought-after Justin Bieber 'do? Despite rumors that he and his fellow heartthrob had discussed their hair together ("I never met this guy!" Pattinson told MTV), the actor was somewhat willing to take on the side-swept style. After laughing about the idea of sporting "The Bieber," RPattz quipped that instead he'd wear "a Bieber hat."
