"Teen Mom" Amber Portwood: NYE Shopper
The troubled ?Teen Mom? star took daughter Leah on a shopping trip at a local mall to pick up some new items for the New Year.
Ms Portwood seemed to be spending freely as she landed $280,000 from her gig on the MTV reality show.
Meanwhile, Amber will also have to put some of her funds toward her legal bills as she was recently charged for her physically abusing her ex boyfriend/baby daddy, Gary Shirley.
Randy Houser 'Freaked Out' Over National Anthem
Randy Houser is a big man with a big voice, but there is one song that strikes fear in his heart every time he's asked to sing it. The song probably intimidates every artist in America, and being asked to sing it live can cause even the most secure vocalist to sweat a little. Randy admits that actually singing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' isn't the hard part: it's remembering the words that's a killer.
"There's such a delay from the time you sing it to the time you hear it on the speakers," Randy tells the Cincinnati Citybeat about his recent performance of the song at a Tennessee Titans game. "It is like a second. It kind of freaked me out. Singing it is the easiest part. Remembering the words to it is a completely different thing. It's just because you think about that one so hard whenever you go out there, you don't want to screw it up. It's not like you're on auto-pilot. You always think you're gonna mess up the words."
Randy has plenty of sympathy for artists who freeze up and go blank on the words to the national anthem, since he knows it could happen to anyone at any time and is an artist's worst fear. "There was a Kansas City Chiefs game [that] my buddy Mike Eli sang at with his band [Eli Young Band] and he forgot the words to the anthem. It was pretty bad. But they don't understand how nerve-wracking that one particular song is to sing because you don't want to screw it up so bad and that's why people do. They're thinking about it so hard. People who don't have to stand up and sing it in front of 90,000 people don't understand. You kind of freak out. That's what happens."
'Castle' Episode 3.13 Photos: Old Wounds and New Torture
When an old detective is killed right before he can tell Beckett some information on the case, she and Castle delve into a conspiracy that may just have the solution to Beckett's mother's murder.
Whether they solve the crime or not, the drama of the episode may ?take their partnership to the next level? (according to the press release). So that sounds good anyway.

Wired's Refusal To Release Or Comment On The Manning Chat Logs (Salon.com)
Tuesday night, Wired posted a two-part response to Glenn Greenwald's criticisms of its conduct in reporting on the arrest of PFC Bradley Manning and the key role played in that arrest by Adrian Lamo. Greenwald wrote about this topic twice -- first back in June and then again Sunday. The first part of Wired's response was from Wired.com editor-in-chief Evan Hansen, and the second is from senior editor Kevin Poulsen. Both predictably hurl all sorts of invective at Greenwald as a means of distracting attention from the central issue, the only issue that matters: their refusal to release or even comment on what is the central evidence in what is easily one of the most consequential political stories of this year, at least. WSJ: The Pentagon Papers revelations dealt with a discrete topic, the ever-increasing level of duplicity of our leaders over a score of years in increasing the nation's involvement in Vietnam while denying it. It revealed official wrongdoing or, at the least, a pervasive lack of candor by the government to its people. WikiLeaks is different. It revels in the revelation of "secrets" simply because they are secret. It assaults the very notion of diplomacy that is not presented live on C-SPAN. It has sometimes served the public by its revelations, but it also offers, at considerable potential price, a vast amount of material that discloses no abuses of power at all.
The Sun Admits Publishing False Story (The Guardian / Greenslade Blog)
The Sun owned up to what Roy Greenslade guesses we in the journalism trade realized the moment we saw it -- its splash about the pre-Christmas live-episode Coronation Street being targeted by al-Qaeda was false. On Dec. 9, it carried a front-page story (which still appears on its Web site, incidentally) claiming that "cops" were "throwing a ring of steel" around the studios in Manchester after being "tipped off" that the show "could be hit by a terror strike." It had that familiar Daily Star-ish ring of complete nonsense, and so it turns out, as Tuesday's page-two "correction" admits: "Further to our article about increased security at Coronation Street's studios for their live 50th anniversary episode…we would like to make clear that while cast and crew were subject to full body searches, there was no specific threat from al-Qaeda as we reported. We apologize for the misunderstanding and are happy to set the record straight."

Colt Ford Insists He's Country to the Core
Colt Ford may not be among the mainstream but he insists he's an authentic country artist -- even if radio doesn't agree.
"I was just at the [CMA Awards], and one of the snootier, big-label radio people was wearing $300 blue jeans and telling me I wasn't country because I don't play traditional country music," Colt tells North Carolina's Asheville-Citizen Times newspaper. "To that I said, 'Hell, you don't play traditional country music on your station. If you look at my lyrics and don't think I'm country, then I reckon you and me are just from two different parts of the country.'"
Colt's innovative music has already earned him an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage, a tour with Hank Williams Jr., and a Top 10 album. Known for his humorous songs like 'No Trash in My Trailer' and 'Chicken and Biscuits,' Colt says his music brings a much-needed form of entertainment that crosses genre lines.

Chris Brown Apologizes For Homophobic Raz-B Twitter Rant
Chris Brown
Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images
A day after launching a series of N-bombs and homophobic tweets in the direction of former B2K singer Raz-B, Chris Brown was feeling contrite Thursday (December 30). The singer, who recently boasted about his completion of a court-ordered, yearlong domestic-violence course as part of his sentencing for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna, told gossip site TMZ that he regretted making crude sexual comments that were considered homophobic.
"Yesterday was an unfortunate lack in judgment sparked by public Twitter attacks from Raz-B, who was bent on getting attention," Brown said of the virtual feud. "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and frustrated I am over what transpired publicly on Twitter. I have learned over the past few years to not condone or represent acts of violence against anyone."
On Wednesday, the "Deuces" singer got charged up when Raz-B tweeted a comment critical of Brown in the midst of a flurry of tweets in praise of Rihanna. "I'm just sittin here thinking how can n---as like [Eric Benet] & [Chris Brown] disrespect women as intelligent as Halle Berry, Rihanna," Raz wrote.
Brown quickly shot back, tweeting, "N---a you want attention! Grow up n---a!!! Di-- in da booty ass lil boy."
The harsh comments were an apparent allusion to allegations Raz-B made (and later retracted) that B2K manager Brian Stokes had molested him. Several other homophobia-tinged responses followed, but, unlike in the past when Brown went into Internet silence after making heated statements, he vowed that this time, he would not delete his Twitter account.
"I was minding my damn business and Peter pan decides to pop off!!!" Brown wrote. "I'm not mad though!!! I'm just not silent nor am i one of these scary R&B cats!!" In light of the harsh statements, Brown followed up by writing, "I'm not homophobic! He's just disrespectful!!!"
Since the Rihanna assault, Brown has made a series of outrageous or confounding statements that he quickly followed with apologies or retractions. He followed that pattern on Thursday, when he told TMZ, "Molestation and victims of such acts are not to be taken lightly; and for my comments I apologize -- from the bottom of my heart." An unnamed source connected to Brown pointed out that Raz's allegations against Stokes were suspect, adding that regardless of their veracity, Brown's comments were not acceptable.
"I love all of my fans, gay and straight," Brown went on to say. "I have friends from all walks of life and I am committed, with God's help, to continue becoming a better person."
Though Brown was extending an olive branch, TMZ also noted that Raz's brother, the singer known as Ricky Romance, posted a video threatening that if he saw Brown in Los Angeles, he would "put my mother----ing pistol in your mouth." A spokesperson for Raz noted that Ricky's comments do not represent Raz's feelings but are the result of a protective instinct among siblings. "Raz-B has already spoken to his brother and told him to chill out," the spokesperson said.

George Strait Tops Country Tours for 2010
George Strait's tour with Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack comes in as the No. 1 country trek on this year's list of Pollstar's top-grossing tours. The Strait tour, which ranks at No. 14 overall, grossed $41.6 million over the course of 2010.
Reba has been enjoying every moment she has spent on the road with both George and Lee Ann. The idea for them to hit the road occurred when they opened the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium last August, and they had so much fun, they decided to keep the good times rolling on down the highway. "When that went so well, we're all together like, 'Man, let's continue this,'" explains Reba. "I was shocked when George said, 'Well, the spring went good, what do you think about us doing some fall dates?' And I'm like, 'Heck, yeah! I love this!' And so we work very well together. [He's] easy to get along with."
Reba also enjoys performing on his set as well. "I really like the stage George has, and it's kind of square - not really in-the-round, but square," she says. "And I really enjoy working that stage. I like to go around it and ... you're closer to everyone that way. I love it!" The three will once again hit the road next year. Their first date is in Austin, Texas on January 14.

Justin Bieber Tweets About His 'Fun' 2010, Prepares For 2011
Justin Bieber
Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images
It's been quite a year for Justin Bieber. Everywhere he went, madness ensued and he managed to go from pop newbie to legitimate superstar over the course of the past 12 months.
So, when Bieber hit Twitter this week to share some reflections about his jet-setting new life, he was quick to point out that right now he just needed some time to chill out and decompress. "Another solid day hanging with the family and friends. love the #holidays," he wrote. "New years is coming....what is gonna be your new years resolution?" He then tweeted a link to the music video for "Pray," followed by a brief message that said, "Need the rest. #grateful"
Bieber certainly deserves some rest. He's been non-stop all year: touring, releasing not one but two albums, filming his 3-D movie "Never Say Never," working with everyone from his mentor Usher to Kanye West and Raekwon, and even introducing the world to his rapping alter ego, Shawty Mane.
"Chillin and happy. Its been a fun year with a lot of blessings," Bieber wrote later on Twitter. "Some crazy rumors but so much love and memories. We r just gettin started!! So enjoy the holidays. Get crazy and have some laughs. Life is too short. At least that is what they tell me. #newyearsIsComin"
Bieber wasn't lying when he said that he was just getting started. 2011 is looking to be another crazy year for the singer. His first feature film, "Never Say Never," is set to premiere in February; he'll be back on the road with Willow Smith in the spring; and he's working on new music — including collaborations with Diddy and Rascal Flatts — that likely will be released sometime in the new year.
What are you most looking forward to from Bieber in 2011?

LeAnn Rimes Not Pregnant, Just Engaged To Eddie Cibrian

Unlike Natalie Portman, LeAnn Rimes is not both pregnant and engaged. That's what the country singer wanted fans to know when she took to Twitter on Tuesday (December 28), just one day after announcing that she and Eddie Cibrian are engaged.
"This is such BS!!!! Lol, you people all report BS," she wrote, tweeting a celebrity gossip website's report that she is expecting.
Several tweets prior, Rimes shared the best advice she ever received, perhaps a dig at reports about her and her fiancJ: "Don't feed onto the negativity, that's what they want. When you ignore you put out their flames and leave them with nothing to talk about. A bully wants to get a reaction, no reaction is confusing to a bully and they eventually burn out. Hard to do always, but so true and it works."
Rimes then went on to tweet about her fun partying plans: "Cabo!!!!! Sun, bikinis, friends, food, tequila...celebration!!!! Gonna be the best trip!!"
On Monday, the same day she announced her engagement, Rimes thanked her fans for their support. "Once again, thank you all for your kindness and for sharing in our happiness," she wrote. "We are off to sweet dream land. Til tmrw twele's love you all!"
The couple, who met on the set of their Lifetime film "Northern Lights," got engaged over the holidays. Rimes, Cibrian and the actor's childhood friend Brent Polacheck designed her engagement ring, consisting of a 5-carat oval diamond set in the middle of a rose gold fleur-de-lis.

Natalie Portman Engaged And Pregnant
Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied

Natalie Portman has had one of the biggest years of her career in 2010, but it looks like 2011 is going to be even bigger. Portman is engaged to her boyfriend, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, and the two are expecting their first child, according to People.
The two met during production of "Black Swan," where Millepied acted as choreographer and Portman's onscreen dance partner, and the two started dating in early 2010. This will be the first marriage and first child for Portman.
(Check out photos of the happy couple.)
When Millepied spoke to Details magazine in June about Portman, he said he was "blown away" by her acting abilities and that she was "amazing to watch." But he did add that the two of them were trying to keep their relationship private. "It's ... everybody's asking us," he said. "We just want to keep things to ourselves."
In addition to her exciting personal news, 2011 is also looking bright professionally. Portman is nominated for her third Golden Globe for "Black Swan," her first nomination for a leading role. She is likely to also be nominated for her first Oscar in a leading role and is one of the front-runners to win it. She also has three big films headed to theaters: the romantic comedy "No Strings Attached," the medieval drug comedy "Your Highness" and the latest Marvel film, "Thor."

Jeff Bridges Heaps Praise On 'True Grit' Co-Star Hailee Steinfeld
Jeff Bridges
Photo: MTV News
With the Coen brothers' "True Grit" making its way into theaters this week, all eyes likely will be turning to newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, who plays the film's young leading lady, Mattie Ross. In her first major role, the 14-year-old actress ultimately has to carry the first portion of the movie, and her performance has been garnering some serious buzz during this awards season. When MTV News caught up with Steinfeld's co-star Jeff Bridges while he was promoting "True Grit," he said he was impressed by the intensity of her performance while they were filming on set.
"What a tough, challenging role for a seasoned actor. All that dialogue, kind of tricky way of speaking. Thirteen-year-old girl, never been in a movie, and she comes up with that performance," Bridges gushed. "Isn't that remarkable?"
Steinfeld found herself surrounded by a full cast and crew of cinema veterans. The Coen brothers won an Oscar for directing 2008's "No Country for Old Men" and have been nominated two other times, Bridges took home a Best Actor Oscar for his role in last year's "Crazy Heart," and Matt Damon and Josh Brolin both have received Academy Award nods in acting categories in the past. But Bridges said Steinfeld didn't need any acting tips from himself or any of the other castmembers.
"I might have slipped out a tip once or twice, and I always regret when I would do that. It's almost like a reflex action — you can't help but put yourself into the other actor's position sometimes," he explained. "I always appreciate a tip from some guy, one of the other players, but no, I let her run free. The brothers directed her beautifully."
With all the buzz Steinfeld has been getting for her "True Grit"
performance, she now is one of the main actresses being looked at to play another strong female character: Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games." When Steinfeld spoke with MTV recently while promoting "True Grit," she said it "would definitely be an honor" to even be considered for the Katniss role.
"I didn't even realize that people were mentioning my name," she said. "It's every actor's dream to be recognized for something that they love to do, and to get recognized for that is pretty amazing. I thank the people out there who think that."

Is Taryn Manning Leaving 'Hawaii Five-0'? Spanish-Language Show Tops Ratings and More
Spoiler warning!
According to TV Guide, the Jan. 3 episode of 'Hawaii Five-0' will feature a plot that sees Manning's character MaryAnn get kidnapped. The episode might not exactly end on a happy note. "Steve discovers a tooth on the ground," Manning told TV Guide, "basically establishing that MaryAnn was a badass and fought her whole way through. There's a lot of emotion."
MaryAnn's kidnapping is tied to a bigger story: Wo Fat and the murder of Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) and MaryAnn's mom. The producers decided to shift the focus from Steve's personal life to his professional relationships, leaving Manning and her character in limbo, but under the impression she'd possibly be around for other seasons. "The family mystery was supposed to slowly unfold over the first season and I was going to play a big part in that with my own Nancy Drew mission," Manning said. "It was told to me that the first season would be based around the team more, and I should just hang tight."
Manning said the final scene will see Steve experiencing sadness over a loss.

Lady Gaga Calls Born This Way Her 'Most Innovative' Work
Lady Gaga
Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage
Lady Gaga hasn't exactly been shy when it comes to describing Born This Way, calling her upcoming record everything from "almost perfect" to "the greatest album of this decade."
And, in a new interview with the BBC, she continued that trend, calling Born her "most innovative" work so far, and promising her fans a musical experience unlike any they've ever heard.
"[The album is] a marriage of electronic music with major, epic, dare I even say, metal or rock and roll, pop, anthemic style melodies with really sledge-hammering dance beats," Gaga said, immediately before jumping onstage at London's O2 Arena. "I think that lyrically this album is more poetic ... It's really written by the fans, they really wrote it for me because every night they're funneling so much into me. So I wrote it for them. Born This Way is all about my little monsters and me, mother monster."
Echoing something she's been saying since the summer, Gaga promised that the album is "finished and all," but that she's currently "fine-tuning everything."
"It's kind of like the post-operative stage of the album," she said. "I've already done the full heart surgery. I'm just sewing myself back up again."
And, to that end, she added that her monsters might not have to wait much longer to hear the album's first single — the title of which is still unknown — telling the BBC it would be released in February 2011, with the album arriving "shortly after."

Lindsay Lohan's Accuser Fired From Betty Ford Center

The rehab-clinic employee involved in Lindsay Lohan's assault case has spoken out about the alleged incident ... and apparently has lost her job as a result. People.com reports that Dawn Holland, a technician at the Betty Ford Center, was fired shortly after a video interview in which she discussed the December 12 events involving Lohan was posted on TMZ.
"Regrettably, one of our employees violated strict confidentiality guidelines and laws by publically identifying patients in a media interview and by disclosing a privileged document," the Betty Ford Center said in a statement about Holland's dismissal.
Holland told TMZ that her wrist was hurt in the confrontation with the actress, who refused to take a Breathalyzer after it was believed she had alcohol on her breath. "Lindsay and two other patients had snuck out, went drinking and tried to sneak back in and they got caught. We were told by our administration on-call to do a Breathalyzer test, which she refused to do," Holland explained. "She was angry and out of control.
"She was the only patient out of the three who was being very uncooperative and out of control," added Holland, explaining that Lohan had been acting defiant at the rehab center. "I did not touch the woman! I am not willing to risk my job over any patient."
Meanwhile, Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, released the following statement to People.com regarding the incident: "We are declining to comment on the underlying facts surrounding this incident, as we await the completion of the police investigation. It should be noted, however, that it was Ms. Lohan who called 911 to request police assistance at the time this incident occurred."
Michael Lohan told E! News that Holland "had it in for Lindsay the whole time" before her firing. "As soon as Lindsay walked in the door the woman grabbed Lindsay by the arm, and not the other two girls [she was with], and said, 'You are going to take a urine test.' Lindsay just brushed her off. That is what she told me: 'Dad, I just brushed her off.' It all boils down to that they were 10 minutes late. Lindsay had three weeks left and this woman was in Lindsay's face, constantly complaining."

'Tron Legacy' Director Contemplates Sequel 'Possibilities'
Lightcycles in "Tron Legacy"
Photo: Disney
After "Tron Legacy" was crowned box-office king with a $43.6 million haul on its opening weekend, naturally the "Tron" talk shifts toward the sequel question. There's already a script in the works, so when MTV News had the chance to chat with one of the power players in the discussion — director Joseph Kosinski — we asked if he's thought about a sequel.
"Yeah, and I think we've created a world that has a lot of possibilities in it," he said. "It was important to me that we created those connections back to the original film. If audiences are interested in this movie and decide they want to go back, and we can find the right story and a way to push the envelope again, I would definitely consider going back."
In addition to bringing back stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, one character that seemed as though he could have a part in the continuation of the story is the briefly appearing Edward Dillinger (played by Cillian Murphy), a rising star at ENCOM, the ominous tech company at the center of "Tron" mythos.
"I'm a big fan of his," Kosinski said when asked how Murphy joined the project. "I'd been talking to him about a way to get involved in the movie from the beginning, and this opportunity came up, so I asked him to be a part of it, and he was excited to do it," Kosinski explained. "So I'm thrilled to have him in there."
Wilde echoed Kosinski's sentiments regarding Murphy's brief performance.
"Cillian Murphy — we were so lucky to have in this film," Wilde said. "His part in 'Tron Legacy' is so mysterious and cool. His role really fits into the mythology of 'Tron,' the corrupt environment of ENCOM. It just shows you that this fight is far from over."
Wilde has also said that she'd be game for another "Tron" movie, particularly exploring how her character, Quorra, would adapt to the human world.
"I'm so thrilled to play with Quorra in the human world. It would be sort of like 'Splash,' " she said, referring to the '80s comedy starring Daryl Hannah as a mermaid unleashed in Manhattan. "I want to see her whispering to laptops and hugging toasters. ... There's a whole other chapter ahead."
Do you want to see a sequel to "Tron Legacy"? Do you want to see more of Cillian Murphy's character? Tell us in the comments!

A Shocking Result on 'Skating With the Stars': The Crowd Boos, As the Finalists Are Revealed (VIDEO)
On the new episode (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC), three stars -- Bethenny Frankel, Jonny Moseley, and Rebecca Budig -- competed for two spots in the finale. Rebecca had the highest total score, meaning the choice was between Bethenny and Jonny. But it didn't seem like much of a choice. Frankel had the lowest prior score, the lowest total score, and she got the lowest scores for the night in every single event.
But then, the votes came in: "The couple leaving right now is ... Jonny and Brooke." The audience reacted with boos and groans. Jonny bowed his head in resignation, or annoyance. Even Bethenny looked stunned. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus Becomes a Dad
Rascal Flatts' bassist Jay DeMarcus joined the ranks of his fellow bandmates, Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney, this week with an early Christmas present. He became a first-time father on Friday, December 17, when daughter Madeline Leigh made her way into the world. The baby is actually a few weeks early -- she was not due to arrive until January 8.
Jay took to his Twitter page on Saturday to confirm the rumors. "It's true! Madeline Leigh DeMarcus was born yesterday at 4:49pm. She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces. Ali and I are so excited!!!"
Madeline's mom is CMT correspondent, Allison DeMarcus. The couple had tried to conceive for a couple of years before she got pregnant, and when they announced the news, Jay told People, it made the happy news "a little sweeter. I feel like we have a victory because of it ... When we stopped trying to plan it out and stopped worrying about it, it happened very naturally."

Waka Flocka Flame Speaks On Home Raid
Waka Flocka Flame
Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage
Waka Flocka Flame is focused on one career, and it doesn't involve being a street hustler.
The Atlanta rapper's home was raided by police on Thursday for an investigation reportedly related to weapons, drugs and prostitution. The MC's mother and manager, Deb Antney, has denied to MTV News that prostitution was a factor in the raid, and on Saturday, Waka batted away allegations that he is involved in any type of illegal activity.
During a sit-down with radio station Hot 93.7 in Hartford, Connecticut, the "O Let's Do It" rapper, who wasn't at home at the time of the raid, described how he learned his place had been busted by authorities.
"I had to go to court for a little traffic ticket for driving too fast. I was coming out the court, I had to use the bathroom. So my road manager G-Boy, he's like, 'Ay, man, police just raided the house.' I'm like, 'What? What they want? They want to find some CDs? What they comin' in there for?' " he said.
The rapper denied he was involved in any shady dealings, maintaining he has no plans to juggle life in the streets and the spotlight.
"Why would I rap and go try to street gang bang? That's hustling backwards. Why would I wanna rap all around the world and then go hit the streets and gang bang? I'm a rapper, I'm not a [gang-banger.] How can you gang bang and be a rapper? I don't understand that," he said. "I would love to find out where their information is coming from. I can't wait."
He also swatted away Web rumors that one of his associates, who reportedly appeared in a video that was making the rounds in the blogosphere, tipped off police.
"That ain't true. Hey, this is the internet. I don't know what's going on, I didn't even see [the video], keep it gangsta," Waka said.
The MTV News "Hottest MCs" pick pointed to the breakout success of the past year as one of the main reasons he plans to keep his business out of the streets.
"I'm good. I dropped the album, Flockaveli, doing numbers. 'No Hands,' I think it's platinum or it's on the road to be. I'm in the top three albums of the year, 'cause I don't know nobody selling past me and Gucci and probably Wayne or Nicki and West or somebody or Ross. Other than that, these folks is losing out here," he said. "I'm good, I got shows every week. I'm straight. Team good, I'm eatin'. New label, Brick Squad Monopoly, Gucc about to drop two mixtapes, I just executive produced one of them. I'm going in, man."
