Reba, Blake Shelton Co-Host Oklahoma Tornado Relief Concert
Filed under: Concert News, Country News

Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton are teaming up once again, but this time it's for charity. The two are returning home to Oklahoma to co-host the Tornado Relief Concert in Durant on May 26.
The news of the recent devastating tornado that ripped through Atoka County affected the two Oklahoma natives, and they reacted immediately by offering their talents to help raise money for their friends and neighbors. Reba was born just 30 miles away from the greatest devastation of the storm, while Blake currently lives in Tishomingo, less than 50 miles from the Atoka County border.
"A lot of people lost a great deal in this disaster and it's particularly close to us because we both consider Oklahoma home," said Reba. "We wanted to do something and let the people in Oklahoma know that we love them and we're praying for them during this difficult tragedy."

Prince William & Duchess Catherine's Wedding Portraits!
A day removed from their fairytale nuptials, Prince William and the newly-titled Duchess Catherine have made their official wedding portraits available for public viewing.
Certainly quite the elegant couple, Will and Kate posed for the trio of photos - with the lovely pair surrounded by their flower girls and young ushers in one adorable shot.
The bride and groom also stood tall for a couple's portrait at the Buckingham Palace locale while flanked by the royal family in the third regal offering.
Dressed in their ceremony garb, Miss Middleton confirmed speculation while dressed in a Sarah Burton designed gown while William donned a Royal Navy Number One Dress uniform.

'Prom' Stars Suggest 'Elaborate' Ways To Get A Date For The Dance
'I like it where people ask in a way where it's unique to that person you're asking,' Kylie Bunbury tells MTV News.By Kara Warner

For those who are in high school, or maybe work at one, the release of Disney's sweet and wholesome "Prom" movie kicks off that heavily hyped season of dress shopping, date anxiety and general excitement that surrounds one of America's most storied traditions.
When MTV News caught up with the film's stars, we asked them to discuss the challenging task of asking someone to prom and what should be done in order to get a prospective date to say "yes."
"An elaborate way," Janelle Ortiz said. "I think it has to be an elaborate way, because you're going to remember prom for the rest of your life."
"It's got to be creative," Joe Adler added. "Throw some effort on it."
"Exactly, you don't want it to be some stupid little flower: Go big or go home," Ortiz said.
"I like it where people ask in a way where it's unique to that person you're asking," Kylie Bunbury explained. "One of my friends, she was a softball player, and the boy wrote 'prom' on softballs and wrapped them around her car or something like that."
"[I like] the way his character asks my character," Yin Chang told us of co-star Jared Kusnitz, who plays Chang's long-term boyfriend in the film. "He got big posters of each letter and had a little speech for each letter."
"At the end of my speech, a spotlight shines down, and I'm holding a question mark," Kusnitz continued. "Very simple. Silence says it all."
"I think just be creative," Danielle Campbell advised, reiterating the thoughts addressed by her co-stars. "Know the girl you're asking. There are a lot of cool ways people ask in the movie. You can definitely steal an idea from there or create your own. We probably raise the standards with the movie," she said. "Be creative, and hopefully she'll say yes."

Reba McEntire is joining her pal, Blake Shelton, on NBC's 'The Voice.' The country queen, along with R&B star Monica, pop singer Sia and music producer Adam Blackstone have been added by the network to the music series as advisers who will assist the coaches -- Blake, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine -- during their teams' "battle" rounds.
NBC also unveiled May airdates for the show, which will have a two-hour edition on Tuesday (May 3) for the second round of auditions, before moving to one-hour 10:00 PM ET episodes for the rest of the month.
'The Voice' enjoyed an impressive debut last Tuesday (April 26), averaging 11.8 million viewers and a 5.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. It was the highest-rated series debut since CBS' 'Undercover Boss' last year. A repeat of the show on Wednesday drew in six million viewers.

'Spy Kids 4' Inspired By Jessica Alba's Diaper Duty, Robert Rodriguez Says
'She gets to show the actual trials of dealing with a baby while having a career,' director tells MTV News.By Eric Ditzian

Over the course of MTV News' Summer Movie Preview Week, we've featured popcorn superhero flicks ("Captain America" and "Green Lantern"), hard-R comedies ("Bad Teacher" and "30 Minutes or Less"), rebooted franchises from the past ("Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "Conan the Barbarian") and much more. But we haven't yet focused on movies aimed at kids.
All that changes on Friday (April 29). We'll be rolling out an exclusive clip from "Kung Fu Panda 2" this afternoon, and right now, we're bringing you an exclusive chat with Robert Rodriguez, the writer/director of "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World," the first film in the series since 2003. The new movie introduces new characters — including Jessica Alba as a spy mom — but also stays true to the original mythology and integrates familiar faces from earlier installments. In this way, Rodriguez told us, "Spy Kids 4" is not so much a reboot as a sequel with fresh talent.
In a wide-ranging conversation, he laid out extensive plot details, explained why these films continue to be appealing a decade after they were first introduced and the surprising (and kind of gross) inspiration that led to the movie, which hits theaters in 3-D on August 19.
MTV News: It doesn't matter if you're doing something like "Machete" or a "Spy Kids" movie, you've always got some tricks up your sleeve. How are you going to wow us with "Spy Kids 4"?
Robert Rodriguez: Man, I can't say everything just yet! There are going to be some things you'll see and go, "Hey, why didn't he tell me that?" You know, we did three of these movies, and then stopped because the kids were getting older. But families still come up to me and say they're watching them, so 10 years later, it felt right to do another one. I got the idea when I was making "Machete" and Jessica came over to my house for lunch with the kids, and she was bringing her daughter out of the backseat. But her diaper had exploded and the kid had made a huge mess and just seeing Jessica dressed up, so beautiful and glamorous, but having to deal with this baby with an exploded diaper, I just thought, "I'd love to see her as a spy mom." I wrote it around her and figured she'd have two new stepkids who don't think their mom is cool, but she's really a spy and their dad plays a spy hunter on a TV show and doesn't know his wife is a spy. There's a robot dog and a spy baby and a new villain, played by Jeremy Piven. And I was looking at my own kids and how quickly time is going by and how you wish you could freeze a moment, so the villain is the Timekeeper, and he is taking time from people and the world is getting faster.
MTV News: Amazing! All of this, born from one dirty diaper.
Rodriguez: That's the thing. Sometimes storytelling is very visual and it inspires you. Then you build and you build, and suddenly you have a movie you're excited to make. You forget it's the fourth one. Oh, and the original spy kids show up, and they're in their 20s. They're the older spies who are trying to reopen the spy agency, which got shut down because of budgetary reasons. Jessica plays Antonio Banderas' younger sister, so she's still part of the original family. She's the aunt of the original spies. It's not really a reboot, so much as a sequel with new kids. And the Timekeeper, he takes time away from you if you're not spending it with your family, because of a personal thing he went through. It's a pretty cool villain plot, because he's not really a villain. And Jessica is so awesome as the spy mom.
MTV News: Yeah, we just saw that first picture of her with the baby strapped to her chest, but she's still wearing her badass spy gear.
Rodriguez: Yeah, the badass spy gear! The opening scene is a flashback where she's about to give birth to the baby. The day she quit being a spy was the day she gave birth, so she's on her last mission, nine months pregnant, on her way to the hospital and still catching the bad guy. So she's repelling, sliding across the cars. Anyone who's been pregnant will tell you: "You're not supposed to do that!"
MTV News: We haven't really seen Jessica in a mature role like this, playing a mom. Did you have a sense that she wanted to take that next step in her career?
Rodriguez: Yeah, I think she liked the idea, because she got married young and had the baby young, so she was dealing with the whole baby situation when we had this idea. We thought it would be a perfect way to deal with what her life is really like, except in this, she's an ass-kicking badass. She gets to show the actual trials of dealing with a baby while having a career.
MTV News: Being that there's a connection between her situation and her character's, did she help build this character and pitch in ideas?
Rodriguez: Completely. She's very collaborative. She said, "I really want to be funny. I should do this, I should do that. I think when I'm with the kids, this is the kind of game I'd play with them." She really brought a lot to the table. She knows children and what would come off best for the character.
MTV News: You've got a lot of funny actors in this one, like Joel McHale.
Rodriguez: Joel McHale, he's awesome! He really is a scene-stealer. He brings you ad libs. Even if it's written, you look at the script and go, "Oh, he just made it sound funnier." Sometimes I'd tell him just the concept of the scene, and he'd ad lib 30 things and they're all funny. The hard part is figuring out which one to use.
MTV News: Do you see this as the start of a whole new trilogy?
Rodriguez: We'll see what happens with number four. I know they want to make more of them. The reason these movies do well is that there's not many live-action films that are very empowering to children. Parents could never understand it, but that's why Power Rangers are so popular — because there are kids beneath those suits. Kids like and support anything that empowers and supports them. It's a powerful idea to know you can be a kid but also a spy and you can strap on a jetpack and fly around the world and not have to have your mom drive you to the mall.

Vanessa Simmons' Heart Was Broken, On 'When I Was 17'
'Everybody knew that he was with this other girl, except me,' 'Run's House' star recalls on latest episode.By Aly Semigran

Vanessa Simmons may not have had a childhood like most of ours (things are bound to be a little different when you're the eldest daughter of hip-hop legend Reverend Run of Run-DMC), but that doesn't mean she didn't experience the same growing pains we all do.
Just like everyone else, Vanessa went through perhaps the single worst rite of passage for any teen: the first heartbreak. The actress/reality star sat down with MTV to open up about her painful split with her first true love for the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which also features ?uestlove and Christina Perri.
As a teen, Vanessa had a serious boyfriend, whom she described as her "high school sweetheart." She reminisced with a laugh about her puppy love with her then-boyfriend, saying, "You know, you're thinking marriage."
But poor Vanessa wasn't heading down the aisle anytime soon as her boyfriend soon broke up with her. Still, the worst was yet to come for the "Run's House" star. "Cut to not even a week after we broke up, he walks into homeroom. He has a necklace with another girl's name on it," she recalled. "Everybody else knew that he was with this other girl, except me. Apparently they were, like, really into each other and kind of serious and I was like, 'When did this happen? Over the weekend?'
"It felt like my heart literally was breaking," the 27-year-old beauty continued. And while she did commit the ultimate dumped-by-a-jerk sin by getting back with him, something she said she now regrets, Vanessa is truly having the last laugh.
"I ended up breaking up with him at the end of senior year anyway," she told MTV, adding, "[It] doesn't even matter."
Check out the all-new episode of "When I Was 17," featuring Vanessa Simmons, ?uestlove and Christina Perri, on Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m. ET on MTV.

"I decided I was going to give myself a challenge and have fun, where I would record and release a new song every week," Jaron tells The Boot of the inception of his Wednesday series. "Some of them might be songs that I already have out, some might be brand-new songs I wrote that week and some might be cover songs ... I'd say 30 might be originals and 20 covers. Some people say that's a lot of cover songs, but I say, 'Yeah, but that's still three times the amount of originals a typical recording artist puts out! [laughs]"

What an episode! I posted a little preview earlier today, but there's nothing you can say to prepare for something like that. Now that it's happened and you've seen it too, I've got a little bit more from the press Q&A with executive producer Julie Plec to help clarify things a bit.
Obviously, SPOILERS AHEAD, so if you haven't yet watched 'The Last Day,' keep reading at your own risk. While I won't spoil anything coming up, there's plenty of dirt about what happened tonight, including Damon's need for forgiveness, Elena's very un-'Twilight'-like speech and how Aunt Jenna got thrown into the middle of everything. So yeah, spoilers.
Plec also gives some good scoop on next week's "big, powerful, enormous, emotional" episode and the season finale. Keep reading for more ... Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

7 Things I Want to See from 'Supernatural' Season 7
This week the CW officially picked up Supernatural for season 7, ensuring that Sam and Dean fans won't have to scramble for a new addiction next year.
We still need to end season 6 and resolve the big mysteries of the
Mother of All and the war in Heaven, but those storylines will be
addressed this season. In an interview with TVLine,
executive producer Bob Singer revealed that they're also planning a bit
of a cliffhanger for the end of season 6 to segue into season 7, which
he said will have the Winchesters playing the roles of Butch and
Sundance, or the Wild Bunch. "It'd be telling the story of the last of
the cowboys, gone modern," he said.

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez's Romantic Getaway!
They're two of the hottest young celebs, which makes it hard for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to ever find moment for each other. However, the teens recently found just long enough of a break to sneak away on a romantic getaway!
Justin is currently globe-trotting on his world-wide tour, but that didn't stop Selena from hopping a plane to Malaysia to meet her beau as soon as her scheduled allowed for it.
The 18-year-old finally reunited with her pop star boyfriend after more than a month of strictly Skype and text communication with one another.
The pair made the most of what little time they had together, staying in Indonesia for a few days before jetting off to the island Bali where they could dodge the ever-present paparazzi.

Britney Spears Has Created 'Her Own Genre,' Dr. Luke Says
Femme Fatale producer tells MTV News the pop star defies categorization because she's 'forward-thinking.'By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias

Since Britney Spears emerged on the scene nearly a decade and a half ago, she's run the gamut of pop music: from sugary bubble-gum to dirty, sexy dance tracks. In that respect, her longtime collaborator and Femme Fatale producer Dr. Luke says that the superstar has in many respects become bigger than pop. In fact, he says it's hard to confine her to just one genre.
"I feel like Britney kind of has her own genre: If you look at songs like 'Toxic' and 'Piece of Me' and 'Oops! ... I Did It Again,' they all were sort of influential and led the way," he told MTV News on Thursday (April 28) at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards.
So when the pair sat down to work on her latest release, Dr. Luke said her pop-music shape-shifting was very much on his mind. "She wanted to keep on with that and do stuff that was forward-thinking," he continued. "So we put some dubstep stuff in there, in bridges; snuck it in different places and I hope it ended up good. I hope you like it."
It seems every time Spears drops a new album, it's declared her comeback record. But Dr. Luke noted that Brit has really never gone anywhere. "Where'd she go? I don't know. I didn't know she ever disappeared, really," he said. "She's always been selling out concerts and records, so I don't know that she ever disappeared."
So what do Spears and Luke have up their sleeve now? "Not yet ... give me a second to breathe, come up for air!" he told us.
Plus, even with Femme Fatale already in stores, it seems like the pair are always finding ways to update the songs. Take, for example, the recent remix of "Till the World Ends," which features Ke$ha (the track's songwriter) and Nicki Minaj.
"Well, we already had Ke$ha on the song 'cause she co-wrote the song ... and she sounded really good on it," Dr. Luke explained. "And then Nicki got on the Femme Fatale Tour so we put Nicki on it and it just sounded amazing. She killed it."

Emmylou Harris' New Album Strikes a 'Hard Bargain'
Brendon Thorne, Getty Images
Since the release of her major-label debut, 'Pieces of the Sky' in 1975, Emmylou Harris has built a career on filling each of her subsequent albums with songs from some of the world's most acclaimed writers. Her latest disc, 'Hard Bargain,' featuring 11 of her own original tunes, continues the trend she began with 1995's 'Wrecking Ball' of including more of her own writing on each project.
"Maybe I was lazy," Emmylou tells Spinner of her reliance on other writers for so long. "Or maybe I was nervous that I wouldn't come up with something good. I knew I could write, but there were all these great songs out there by other people, ready for the plucking."
One subject that has come up in interviews with the singer-songwriter throughout her entire career is Gram Parsons, the late country-rock pioneer with whom she toured and recorded in the early '70s. He is, however, not a subject that has come up as often in her songwriting, which makes 'The Road,' the opening track on 'Hard Bargain,' all the more poignant. It's a song Emmylou insists she had no choice but to write.

Director Paul Feig Shares Non-Spoilery Secrets of Steve Carell's Exit from 'The Office'
Filed under: Reality-Free, Features, Stay TunedIn the victory lap that has preceded his exit from 'The Office,' Steve Carell once again proved how vital he has been to the success of the NBC comedy.
Now that 'The Office' is in its seventh season, it's not as consistently funny as it was in its earlier years, but Carell is the reason that season 7's best moments worked so very well. Because Carell made us root for this incompetent Dunder Mifflin manager, Michael Scott's proposal to Holly Flax -- and even his worshipful groping of her -- provided the show with its most memorable moments in ages.
The actor leaves the show for good in Thursday's super-sized episode, and Paul Feig, who directed the episode and many other fine 'Office' outings, recalls the evolution of the character and talks about Carell's exit in the Q&A below. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Cameron Diaz Talks "Bad Teacher"
As one of Hollywood?s top actresses, Cameron Diaz busted out her fabulous big screen skills for the upcoming comedy ?Bad Teacher.?
Sitting down with MTV News, the ?Charlie?s Angels? babe explained a little bit about her character in the film, saying, "She's not a good teacher. She is the opposite of good. She is a bad teacher. She is bad at teaching. ... She just really doesn't care. She doesn't want to be a good teacher, and so therefore, being a bad teacher really doesn't mean anything to her either."
She added, "She's miserable. She's not happy with her world, and she doesn't pretend that she is. Her pain is real. She's living a very painful existence, so there's no humor to her in this."
Recalling a bad teacher of her own, Cameron went on to say, "I had a really, really bad teacher. I'm not naming names. That teacher knows who that teacher is, and that's about it. I think that this person actually cared about being a good teacher, but just happened to be terrible," she added with a laugh. "We've all had those teachers. Teaching is not everybody's calling."

Kenny Chesney Releases Grace Potter Duet as Next Single

Kenny Chesney is joined by rocker Grace Potter on his next single, 'You and Tequila,' which will be released to radio later this month. The tune is the fourth release from 'Hemingway's Whiskey' and follows three consecutive No. 1s: 'Live a Little,' 'The Boys of Fall' and 'Somewhere With You.'
"I've always loved the song 'You and Tequila,'" Kenny says of the song, which was penned by Matraca Berg and Deana Carter. "I've had that song for years and lived with Matraca's demo for a long time. After the tour in 2007, I rented a house in Malibu, Calif. right on the cliff of the ocean, and I would drive up the Pacific Coast Highway right at sunset. I remember I'd roll down the windows and just listen to music. I would listen to Tom Petty, the Eagles. I would listen to so many songs that would fit that moment. It was therapeutic."

'Gossip Girl' Star Is Addicted to Chocolate & More Set Secrets From Newbie Kaylee DeFer

"I'm just your regular girl," she promised AOL TV when we caught up with her last week to discuss her adventures on the Upper East Side.
As the glamorous Serena Van Der Woodsen's not-so-rich 18-year-old cousin, Charlie is out of her element among the obscenely wealthy socialites who inhabit the UES. The 'Gossip Girl' world is new to DeFer, too -- she hadn't seen an episode until she booked her audition for the show.
After her first taste, though, she was hooked.

The Huffington Post Poaches New York Times Energy Reporter (FishbowlNY)
For some reason, we get the feeling that each time The Huffington Post hires a full-time editor and/or reporter, Arianna Huffington yells, "See? I told you all we're a real news organization!" Business Insider: Energy reporter Tom Zeller is the third senior editorial hire HuffPost has made recently from the NYT. He follows Tim O'Brien, who is now HuffPost's national editor, and Peter Goodman, business editor. TheWrap.com / Media Alley: Zeller will "cover the economic and social implications of energy and climate policy," Huffington said, including "the impact on the health of our communities. He's shown that he can deliver game-changing, in-depth investigative reporting using all the multimedia tools online journalism has to offer."

Networks Shell Out For Royal Wedding Pundits (Adweek)

Now, American networks are following suit, signing British pundits to both long-term and short-term contracts to cover Friday's Royal Wedding. GigaOM: British Cultural Secretary Jeremy Hunt is reported as saying that he anticipates 2 billion people watching. And most of that viewing may be done online -- a storm of streaming that could bring down networks and sites around the world.

WikiLeaks Discloses New Details On Whereabouts Of al-Qaeda Leaders On 9/11 (Washington Post)
On Sept. 11, 2001, the core of al-Qaeda was concentrated in a single city: Karachi, Pakistan. CNET / Privacy Inc.: A new classified data dump from WikiLeaks shines new light on the evidence, sometimes lacking, against the people that the U.S. government has held and is holding at the Guantánamo Bay prison in Cuba. NYT: A trove of more than 700 classified military documents provides new and detailed accounts of the men who have done time at Guantánamo Bay and offers new insight into the evidence against the 172 men still locked up there. NYT: Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda bin Qumu was a prisoner at Guantánamo Bay, judged "a probable member of al-Qaeda" by the analysts there. They concluded in a newly disclosed 2005 assessment that his release would represent a "medium to high risk, as he is likely to pose a threat to the United States, its interests, and allies." Today, Qumu, 51, is a notable figure in the Libyan rebels' fight to oust Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, reportedly a leader of a ragtag band of fighters known as the Darnah Brigade for his birthplace, this shabby port town of 100,000 people in northeast Libya. NYT: Said Mohammed Alam Shah, a 24-year-old Afghan who had lost a leg as a teenager, told interrogators at Guantánamo Bay that he had been conscripted by the Taliban as a driver before being detained in 2001. He had been caught, he said, as he tried to "rescue his younger brother from the Taliban." So in 2004, Shah was sent back to Afghanistan -- where he promptly revealed himself to be Abdullah Mehsud, a Pakistan-born militant, and began plotting mayhem.
At Last, Couric Is Expected To Say She's Leaving CBS (NYT / Media Decoder)
This week, Katie Couric is planning to acknowledge one of the worst-kept secrets in television: that she is leaving the CBS Evening News after five years. Then, as soon as she returns from London, where she will be anchoring the network's coverage of the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton Friday, CBS will announce her successor during the first week of May. Newsweek: Couric kept having a dark fantasy that one of the New York City buses with her face splashed along the side would run her over, completing her demise.
War, In Life And Death (NYT)
Tim Hetherington was a war photographer in every regard. Tall, brutally handsome, and modest, he had a British accent plucked from a Graham Greene novel and the body fat of a Diet Coke. Salon.com: Last Wednesday, my best friend, photographer Chris Hondros, died in a rocket-propelled grenade blast along with Hetherington, the acclaimed director of the Oscar-nominated film Restrepo. A week earlier, I had been in Libya with him. I was there only because Chris asked me to go. Newsweek: We depend on them for truth, for glimpses into human vileness, even as we cut their jobs and cut their space and treat their work as if it's the most disposable part of the ever-shrinking media. When photojournalists Hetherington and Hondros were killed last week in Libya, it made you furious. Newsweek: Tina Brown: The deaths of brave and brilliant photojournalists Hondros and Hetherington ripped the hearts of all those who care about bearing witness to the truth.

Martina McBride Gets Emotional During 'Girls Night Out'

Martina McBride is one of the women celebrated during the Academy of Country Music's 'Girls Night Out: Superstar Women of Country -- The Concert of the Year' television special, which airs tonight (April 22). The 'Teenage Daughters' singer could not believe she was sitting alongside the women who were being honored, including her idol, Reba McEntire, as well as Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, Carrie Underwood and the Judds.
"It was amazing," Martina tells The Boot. "It was such a special show, it's such a special moment to be with those other women and be recognized in that way in that group of women. I mean, I'm sitting next to Reba and we're here together. This is crazy, right? I just felt so proud and happy to be there with those other women. People like Miranda, who is just doing such amazing work and Jennifer Nettles, who's such a great singer, and Carrie, who's a great singer. Just being part of that whole [night], and the Judds! My gosh!"

The first thought through my head when I read that Apple had penned a deal with Warner Music Group was something akin to “holy ^$#%”. The next thought was this — If Warner has finally found a deal that it likes, it won’t take long for Spotify to clone it and launch in the US. [...]
NBC Cancels 'Paul Reiser' After 2 Episodes; Time Slot Will Be Filled By 'Office' Repeats
UPDATED: Both episodes were low-rated. (The premiere ranked as NBC's lowest-rated in-season comedy series premiere ever with a 1.1/3 in adults 18-49, and the show tumbled 18% to a 0.9/3 last night.) Even ads for The Paul Reiser Show were annoying, even though I like him. I understand thatNBC's new brass was "reluctant" but felt the network "had to replace" Reiser with The Office repeats. An insider just told me: "We were hopeful about Paul?s show, but we had to make the decision to protect The Office since we have very important episodes in the coming weeks with Steve Carell?s exit and Will Ferrell?s guest shots." Also worth noting is that NBC's new admin is "still trying to deal with several other shows carried over from the previous regime" besides Reiser:Friends With Benefits and Love Bites. This statementto me frominside NBC sums it up: "Bob Greenblatt inherited nothing but shit."

Jennifer Nettles, Band Perry Pay Tribute to 'Lady Legends'

Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and sibling trio the Band Perry are taking part in tonight's 'Girls Night Out: The Superstar Women of Country - The Concert of the Year,' and for both acts it is a celebration of the women who helped to pave the way for them.
"It is so wonderful any time that we can honor women in music and the contributions that they make and they have made," Jennifer Nettles tells The Boot. "To be able to be a part of this is pretty special to me. To be able to celebrate these women who I admire and respect so deeply for what they do and what they bring to the genre, it is really, really special."
Jennifer is being recognized during the show for her songwriting contributions. She made history with 'Stay,' which earned Song of the Year in 2008, marking only the second time a female artist solely wrote and performed a Song of the Year winner. Ronnie Dunn pays tribute to her by giving a hair-raising performance of the award-winning tune.

Lady Gaga Debuts 'Glee' Clip From 'Born This Way' Episode
Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment.By James Dinh

"Glee" is ready to go Gaga all over again. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they'll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance.
Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they'll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer's hit "Born This Way."
Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment.
"Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance," he says.
Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don't accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing "Born This Way."
"We're going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We're going to perform her anthem to acceptance, 'Born This Way,' " he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause.
Back in January, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes. "I love that that song is [an] anthem," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don't really know what that's going to be, but I do know we're going to do a whole episode that's about that song."

'Glee' Video: Santana Keeps It Real by Insulting Everyone
I love Santana. The incredibly mean Glee character has stepped up
this season as a force to be reckoned with, and while her verbal
smackdown on the bully Karofsky this week made some cheer, she's about
to open up an equally large can of whup-ass on everyone in New
Directions.
The 90-minute episode "Born This Way" airing this Tuesday is set to be
all about being happy with yourself and not embracing who you are. But
Santana would like to add some honesty into the equation.

The Black Eyed Peas Talk will.i.am's Dancing Skills
Group laughs off frontman's lack of onstage moves.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway

While will.i.am used to cut a rug, these days, when he and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas hit the stage, will's dancing skills are noticeably absent from the show, which usually includes a slew of other eye-catching props like over-the-top costumes and lasers.
"I'm the only one dancing now," apl.de.ap laughed to MTV News when we caught up with the group at Terminal 5 in New York, where they were taping a show set to air Friday at midnight ET on MTV.
But will.i.am has a good reason for his recent lack of dancing: competition with himself.
"I like to allow the old me to have the crown somewhere, because me versus the old me — I'm a better businessman now than when I was 22, I'm a better producer than I was when I was 23, so I got to let the old me beat me somewhere," will.i.am said.
Fergie, meanwhile, had this explanation: "The pants got tighter."
The MTV special might not show off too much of will's dancing, but it will feature some of the group's biggest hits. "Before we had 'I Gotta Feeling,' it was like, 'We know we gotta play "Pump It" and "Let's Get It Started," ' " will.i.am explained. "We used to do 'Let's Get It Started' at the end, because that was our big finale, which didn't really make sense. And for a while, [we did] 'My Humps' and then it got to the point where we didn't want to play 'My Humps' no more. You know, 'cause 'I met a girl down at the disco,' I just didn't want to say that no more, lyrically.
"It wasn't like my best lyrically, but it was fun," he continued. "It wasn't lyrical miracles, but the beat was rocking, so we throw the beat in there and just let the beat linger, but now 'I Gotta Feeling' is like 'What?' and when we perform it, in my mind, I'm like, 'Where did that song come from?' I can't believe this is us, and look at all these people singing it like it's theirs."

'Breaking In' Season 1, Episode 3 Recap
Filed under: Reality-Free, Recaps['Breaking In' - 'Need For Speed']
OK, 'Breaking In,' it's time to bump Michael Rosenbaum up to full-time status, like now! The former 'Smallville' baddie stole the show from Christian Slater and Bret Harrison on this week's manic and fast-paced third episode.
Last week, I mentioned that my least favorite thing about 'Breaking In' was the blooming love triangle between Cameron, Melanie and Dutch, Rosenbaum's frosted tip-sporting douche knuckle. But I'll happily eat those words (mmm, words) if this ongoing will-they-or-won't-they plot will mean more screen time for Dutch.
Rosenbaum, who was credited as a guest star here, looks like he's having a blast playing the ultimate uberdouche. Slater momentarily nabbed the spotlight back with a few sly lines and his intense crazy guy stare, but the night clearly belonged to Rosenbaum. The guy nails his clueless character and the comic timing perfectly. He's so breezy and natural (in a role that could easily come across as grating) that it's easy to believe he's ad-libbing half his lines. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

LeAnn Rimes has taken a lot of heat for her relationship with fiancé Eddie Cibrian, and she feels some of it isn't entirely fair, considering that there are certainly plenty of men in the music business who've had affairs. She opens up in-depth about the flack she's taken on a special 90-minute episode of GAC's 'Backstory' that premieres this Sunday (April 24) and includes interviews with her mother, her agent, her label head and childhood buddy Steve Holy, among others.
"I mean, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and all of those guys, God knows that they did it back in the day," LeAnn tells GAC. "If a woman did it, you were never accepted or forgiven, but if it was a guy, they could write a song about it, it'd be huge, and they'd move on. It's quite interesting to navigate those waters as a woman in this business."

Toby Keith Gears Up for Ninth USO Tour

Toby Keith's unwavering support of U.S. servicemen and women continues, as the country superstar is packing his bags for what will be his ninth USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour.
"My father was a veteran, and [in 2002] I wanted to go pay my respects and honor all the troops that were overseas fighting in different conflicts," Toby tells The Boot of his very first Middle East tour. "I got over there and fell in love with it. One of my best friends, Curt Motley, went and became a board member for the USO. And [in the past decade], we've done two weeks every year -- over 160 shows in the desert playing for our fine men and women warriors that wear our county's uniform. It's become part of my life now."
Since that first trip, Toby has played for more than 159,000 troops and their families. He'll add to that number soon on a 12-day USO tour covering three countries (with exact dates and locations kept secret for security reasons).

Sugarland lead singer Jennifer Nettles is once again showing her support for the performing arts. The singer announces the Attic Community Playground online auction, which runs through May 11 here, and benefits music education for children.
"Art programs within schools -- band, chorus, drama, art --continue to be cut," Jennifer says. "This is an extremely sad fact not only because I enjoy a career in the arts, but I enjoyed and benefited from studying the performing arts as a kid. ACP hopes to help provide students with opportunities for experiencing and studying the arts so they can develop their self-expression, emotional exploration and self-confidence."
The auction includes concert tickets and meet-and-greet passes from Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Sugarland, pop singer Katy Perry and rocker Jon Bon Jovi.

Having completed tours with Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean -- both of which fit his personality and music to a T -- Eric Church is getting ready to hit the road with the Big Dog Daddy himself, Toby Keith, which the singer says is a good fit for both artists.
"We've done things our own way. We don't care a whole lot about what people think and probably never will, and I think that makes for a good tour," Eric tells The Boot. "There's not people out there following rules and trying to be something that they're not, and I've always respected that about Toby, and I think that's so far why we've gotten along pretty well."

So just how did his wife of three years break the happy news? "I came back from the grocery store and she was real quiet," Eric relates. Today's Trump Birther Brouhaha: 'Obama and His Minions' Have 'Co-Opted You' (VIDEO)
Filed under: TV ReplayDonald Trump insisted Tuesday on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) that President Obama's birth certificate is "not a big focus of my campaign." Yet when George Stephanopoulos pressed him on the issue, things got contentious and bizarre.
"There's a real question about the birth certificate," Trump said. Stephanopoulos pushed back, citing the president's certificate of live birth and 40-year-old birth announcements in Hawaii newspapers as evidence of his U.S. citizenship. Then things got weird. Trump said, "George, they have co-opted you." Pressed to define who "they" are, Trump said he was referring to "Obama and his minions." Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Since Rick Ross put together his new Maybach Music Group roster, the Bawse has been working overtime.
Ross has been scooping up artists for his Warner Bros.-distributed MMG label, recording for the imprint's first compilation (Self Made, Vol.1) and filming music videos at a rapid pace.
In an interview with MTV News, Ross spoke about his work ethic, boasting that he shot a trio of music videos within a 24-hour time span. Two of the clips — "Pandemonium," featuring Ross' new recruits Wale and Meek Mill, and "Play Your Part" — will appear on Self Made, Vol.1.
"We actually filmed three videos in one day," Ross said backstage at the New Orleans stop on Lil Wayne's I Am Still Music Tour. "We filmed 'Play Your Part' and 'Pandemonium.' We actually filmed all the way until 7 a.m., until it was time to go shoot [DJ] Khaled's 'Welcome to My Hood' [video]."
For Rick, the inspiration behind "Pandemonium" was simple: "We started in the back, now we the MCs in the front, and that was the way that we all felt. You know, Meek Mill just being released from jail, his whole situation, his father being slain, just his whole story just [smelled] like triumph. Wale's story and us all sitting in the room and us all believing in our abilities."
"Play Your Part" features Chester French frontman D.A. Wallach singing on the hook. "I sent him the track, and he put an incredible chorus on there and it was swagged out," Ross said. "And when he came to the video, it was just the energy he brought. It was super cool."
Self Made, Vol.1 hits stores May 24.

Filed under: Reality-Free, Recaps'Cougar Town' is back, and as Mo Ryan said in her review, it's picking up where it left off when it in February, with the exploits of the Cul de Sac Crew being just as funny as ever. Yes, there was some seriousness in the mix -- mainly with the story of Jules trying not to meddle with her son Travis's desire to ask his girlfriend to marry him -- but general goofiness is usually what people remember the most from any particular episode.
Take Penny Can ... or, rather: Penny Can! Who says that Bobby Cobb isn't an innovator? Toss a penny into a paint can from a distance and make up your own rules as you go along. The "in and out" rule we found out about this week was one of their better ones, mainly because we got to see Courteney Cox with a Magic Marker mustache.
Anyway, it's a fun game. And, believe it or not, it's marketable. Yes, it's an old paint can with a label on it, and you have to supply your own pennies (no nickels allowed), but I'd buy one after hearing the radio ad he and Laurie created for it. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Reba McEntire Gives Son Shelby the Green Flag
Filed under: Country News
Brian Cleary, GRAND-Am Road Racing
Reba McEntire is thrilled her son Shelby has found his calling racing cars, but that doesn't negate the fact that she worries about him when he is zooming around the race track.
"That first time when that green flag drops, my stomach goes right to my throat, and then it goes back down and then I'm OK," Reba tells The Boot. "But, boy, that roar is tremendous."
While she assumed Shelby would follow in her footsteps and those of husband-manager, Narvel Blackstock, and Shelby's older brother, Brandon, and join the family music business, Reba was pleasantly surprised when he took up the sport of racing last year.

The Judds Share Family Secrets -- Exclusive Video Interview
Joseph Llanes for The Boot
Naomi and Wynonna Judd have lived their lives, collectively and separately, in the public eye for 25 years, but they reveal themselves in ways never before seen in 'The Judds,' their docu-series airing on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Not only do they disclose new details to their millions of fans, but also to each other, including Naomi's long-held secret of childhood abuse. The show is a runaway hit, drawing 1.7 million viewers for its two-hour April 10 premiere, making it the highest-rated debut on OWN outside of the network's launch week.
During a recent stop to AOL's Beverly Hills studio, the mother and daughter admit their first reaction to seeing themselves on the show was, as Wynonna puts it, "What have we done?" As their fractured past plays out for all to see in the pair's attempt to heal old wounds during their first tour together in years, they discover new bonds. "We became closer than I think we've ever been," Wynonna says. But not without a few scrapes along the way.

Lynda Carter Likes Her 'Wonder Woman' Costume Best (VIDEO)
Filed under: TV ReplayNBC's new David Kelley-helmed 'Wonder Woman' series hasn't even hit the airwaves yet, but already the new costume has been criticized everywhere from Time magazine to Fox News. On 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), '70s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter gave her thoughts: She prefers her old costume to the new one.
"They're trying to update with the way we're all doing leggings now and skinny jeans," she said. Carter's costume had the requisite superhero underwear, whereas the new costume is vinyl with long, form-fitting pants. Carter did say that Kelley is brilliant and full of surprises, so there's hope for the series. Sharon Osbourne promptly asked who he was. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
